Tuesday Harness Preview for 12/17/2013

December 17th, 2013

Most tracks have little to offer on Tuesday evenings, but the cards tonight at Rosecroft Raceway and Dover Downs will provide players with potentially a handful of good wagering opportunities.

In the fourth race tonight at Rosecroft, look for Fifteen Four N (Corey Braden) to regain his winning ways as the tepid favorite or possibly the second choice in a non-winners of $5000 last five condition for pacers. This Jeff Clark trainee endured a long, first over journey last week against similar and settled for second as the 7-5 second choice while being overhauled late by Missed Opportunities. Fifteen Four N has faced considerably tougher in outings at Dover and should benefit from an honest early tempo against this group this evening.

Several races later in the weekly, $10,000 Filly-Mare Open, give Ge's Alex (Justin Vincent) another chance to finally shed her bridesmaid status and prevail against this group. The Gary Ewing trainee has been second behind Shaker Rei (John Gazzerro) and Real Passing Lady (Brian Burton) in each of her last two starts and gets her last opportunity this season to topple them both in the F-M Open this evening. Ge's Alex does not have much early speed, but she has a serious stretch kick.

Then in the very next race on the card, expect the talented Abelard Hanover (Frank Milby) to avenge his setback last week to Bigtown Hero (Art Stafford, Jr.) in the weekly, $10,000 Open Handicap for aged pacers. The well-traveled sort trained by Alvin Callahan, has won 14 of 28 starts and earned nearly $250,000 while taking a seasonal mark of 1:48 this year, but settled for second off the qualifier last week behind the razor-sharp Bigtown Hero. In the compact field of five, look for Abelard Hanover to atone for that setback this evening.

In the ninth race at Dover Down tonight, look for Roman Conqueror N (Corey Callahan) to emerge victorious in the $15,000 claiming race. This Dylan Davis trainee was an unlucky second last week as the 2-1 second choice in the faster half of the split claiming race, but expect Roman Conqueror to control the tempo throughout tonight from post three and turn the tables on Ise The By Boy (Ross Wolfenden) who drew post position eight and may have trouble overcoming the draw and excess cover this evening.
