Top Greyhounds for September 2016

Thanks to United Greyhound Racing (UGR), Greyhound players get the inside scoop on the top racers in the country. The UGR Top 25 poll is below, but Mike Frino's analysis of the top ten can yield some valuable handicapping information.

Current Top Ten Greyhounds

1. Se Tali Sundance

Male - (KC and All-Flying Cassel) Record:  9/6-1-0-1 Kennel:  Charter Kennel Owner: Charter Kennel

The only greyhound to appear in each of the UGR Top 25 Polls this year.  Now takes claim to the No. 1 ranking in the poll.  Tallied 4 consecutive wins at Southland at the close of this poll period.  Se Tali Sundance has earned a spot in the BetAmerica Daytona 550 for the Charter Kennel. Invitations are sent out in November.

2. Kinda Cruel Red

Male - (Bella Infrared-Cruel To Be Kind) Record: 10/7-3-1-0 Kennel:   Jacobs Racing Owner:    Edward Piziak Jr.

A super performer at Palm Beach earlier this year; now doing the same at Wheeling. Recent winner of 6 in a row.

3. Fire Blitzen

Male - (Dragon Fire-Cry Heather) Record:  9/7-1-1-0 Kennel:   DQ Williams Kennel Owner:  Sharon L. Williams

Winner of 7 consecutive races at the 647-yard distance.  Set Flagler’s season’s best mark in 36.74.

4. GV Mooseisloose

Male - (Deerfield Mover-GV Jodys Toofast) Record: 10/8-1-0-0 Kennel:  James Douglas Kennel Owner:  Rick Bartley or Michael Montoya

An early speedster that is a natural for the Palm Beach oval.  Won 7 in a row; then followed that with a 4 race winning streak.

5. Daily Prayer

Female - (Pat C Clement-Angel Terri) Record:  10/5-2-1-1 Kennel: Ryan Farms Kennel Owner: Henry Chin

A classy and steady competitor at Southland throughout this year, and recent winner of the Chris Chance Memorial. Missed a check once in 10 starts, and has won 4 of her last 5 races.

6. Sentinel

Male - (Barcelona Boss-My Heroine) Record:  10/7-1-2-0 Kennel: Ryan Farms Kennel Owner:  Ryan Farms Kennel

One of the best young sprinters at Palm Beach before an injury ended his career.  Winner of 7 races this poll period. The Ryan Farms Kennel places two greyhounds back-to-back in the Top 10.

7. Craigiepridenjoy

Male - (KC and All-Toni Works) Record:  10/5-2-0-1 Kennel:  Lester Raines Kennel Owner: Craigie Inc.

Moved to Wheeling as a maiden in late April, and quickly ascended to Grade AA.  Was red hot in July, winning five straight.

8. Hey Hey Daddy

Female - (TMC’S Remedy-Need A Date) Record:  14/7-1-2-0 Kennel:   DQ Williams Kennel Owner:   Tina Williams

Won 7 of 9 races going into mid-August, including the Bestbet Sprint Classic.  This female is a half- sister to the national champion Need My Moneynow.

9. Oya Stan The Man

Male - (Defrim Bale*-O Ya Norma) Record:  11/6-1-1-2 Kennel: D’Arcy Kennel Owner:  Gary W. Reicherts

This stand-out 660-yard performer at Derby Lane has missed a check only once in his last 16 starts.  Has appeared in the last three Top 25 polls, and was No.7 in the last poll.

10. Martha Maccallum

Female - (Flying Westover-Johara) Record:   10/7-1-1-0 Kennel:  Brindle Kennel Owner Anthony Napolitano or Brindle Kennel

Began her racing career in late May, and steadily moved to Grade A.  Has won 5 of her 6 Grade A races, and set the season’s fastest time at Flagler with a  30.42 clocking.  She may be one to watch over the next few months.
