British Racing $10 Money Back: Sunday's Play at Pontefract

Sunday’s “British Racing $10 Money Back” race is the third at Pontefract, located just south of Leeds in Yorkshire. It’s the Pomfret S. for older horses that haven’t won a Group 1 or Group 2 event this season, and it’s attracted a compact field of six.
If you opt into the “British Racing $10 Money Back” promotion, and the subject of your $10 win bet runs second, you get your money back. That applies to one race a day through the end of August, so make sure you’re set to take advantage of this exciting promotion!
Let’s take a look at this group, which includes some very classy runners from spots you might recognize.
Point Lynas gets class relief
#5 POINT LYNAS is your 9-5 morning line favorite, and for good reason. He was last seen running a close-up second in the Summer Mile (G2) at Ascot behind Never So Brave, and he won a renewal of this race a season ago in impressive fashion.
About the only negative with him is that he’s 0-for-4 this season, but here’s the thing: Combined, this field is 0-for-18 in 2025. Every one of these runners is looking to find the right level, and I think Point Lynas has found his. He’s shown he’s competitive in good company on multiple continents. He started off the season with a runner-up finish in Qatar behind General Panic, and it feels like he’s in the right spot.
It’s not exciting to back a favorite sometimes, but I wouldn’t be shocked if his 9-5 morning line price comes down a bit before post time (9:55 am Eastern). Point Lynas seems legitimate to me, and he’s my top pick.

Make Me King may provide some value
If you want a bigger price, the one I’d advise breaks to Point Lynas’s inside. That’s #4 MAKE ME KING, who’s 5-1 on the morning line but hasn’t done much wrong this season despite not finding the winner’s circle.
He’s tried Group 2 or Group 3 company in three countries, and he’s hit the board on all three occasions. Most recently, he was third in a Group 3 at Chantilly contested over soft going, but he’s also shown he can run well over firmer ground, too. He won three times last year, including a Group 3 in France at this distance, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this class relief is what he needs.
Again, Point Lynas seems strictly the one to beat, given his recent form and proven talent over this route of ground. However, if you need a bigger price to get you excited, Make Me King hits me as one with a puncher’s chance.
