The scratch of 2023 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner #1 White Abarrio (1-1) affects the wagering strategy for Saturday’s $150,000 Mr. Prospector (G3) at Gulfstream Park.
Mr. Prospector Wagers
- $20 win #2 Knightsbridge ($20)
- $10 trifecta key 2 with 4,6 ($20)
Bill Mott’s #2 Knightsbridge (7-5) has never run a bad one in his five-race career and peaked last time in his first with blinkers when registering a 104 Brisnet Speed number in an allowance romp at Aqueduct. By Nyquist, the Godolphin homebred has room to improve, being lightly raced in his second run since February, and the top prospect comes in with a bullet half-mile move at Payson Park in preparation for his third run at this venue. The four-year-old colt figures to be prominent throughout with Junior Alvarado in the irons.
#6 Hold My Bourbon (15-1) is not super consistent, but the gray is capable of running big on his best day for Joseph. The four-year-old son of Anchor Down cuts back in distance after leading to the turn for home and then giving away in the lane of the Harlan’s Holiday (G3) here most recently, and the Kentucky-bred will relish the move back to seven-eighths in this spot. Tyler Gaffalione will be in the irons.
Multiple stakes winner #4 Super Chow (20-1) might not be as good as he once was, but the $980,000 earner really likes Gulfstream, and he could fire a big one while coming in fresh off the layoff. The five-year-old son of Lord Nelson will be involved from the opening bell with Jorge Ruiz in the controls.
WHITE ABARRIO will bypass the Mr. Prospector and train up to the @PegasusWorldCup as a prep for the @DubaiWorldCup for @C2RacingStable and @SaffieJosephJr. pic.twitter.com/ktFusXveJq
