Pick 3 of the Week: Gulfstream Park Saturday, May 2

April 30th, 2026

A pair of stakes tilts will take place at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, and they will bookend my Pick 3 of the Week.

Gulfstream Park Race 6: Pick 3 Wager:

  • $1 Pick 3: 2,6,7,9 with ALL with 1 ($24)

Race 6 โ€“ Honey Ryder S.

Fillies and mares will go one mile on the lawn in a very well-matched field. Iโ€™ll use multiple runners in the first piece of the play. The Saffie Joseph-trained #2 Spirit Doll was a stakes winner on the course in her 2025 finale and has faced graded foes in two straight to kick off the season. The Tiz the Law filly will be tough with her top run third time off the break.

#6 Barakah closed well in a route attempt going long on the synthetic at first asking for Joseph, and could be a nice prospect. Vincent Cheminaud will be in the silks. Patrick Binaconeโ€™s #7 Laigina has class to her as well as good early foot, and she might be the one to catch turning for home with Julien Leparoux aboard. #9 One Sweet Girl is three-for-four on the surface and will have Miguel Vasquez in the silks as the fourth runner that I will include

Race 7 โ€“ Claiming

A group of six fillies and mares will travel 1 1/16 miles on the all-weather track in a tricky middle leg. Each of the ladies in the group has previously won at this venue, and a case can be made for each of the contenders in the cast, so I will utilize the "ALL" button to advance to the last leg of the sequence.

Race 8 โ€“ English Channel S.

The one-mile turf test for three-year-olds attracted a field of nine. #1 Redland Rebels was a dominant winner to break his maiden in his first turf appearance and finished a neck second in the Kittenโ€™s Joy S. in his second run on the lawn. The speedy son of Uncle Chuck has faced graded foes on the main oval in his last two and will relish the return to the green with Julien Leparoux taking the reins. He will be my single to close out the play.
