Pick 4 Racing Analysis

Race 2 – Maiden Special Weight

A six-furlong dash on the dirt for the boys will commence the play. I’ll use the four logicals in the heat, including #1 Flick (2-1). Michael Tomlinson's charge has improved his Brisnet Speed number in each run to date and has a bit of pace from the rail. Axel Concepcion will guide the Army Mule gelding.

#3 Musical (5-2) brought $700,000 as a yearling and hails from the high-percentage barn of Brittany Russell. Candy Ride colt is a must-use. Ignacio Correas’ #4 Rule Sixty Two (7-2) and the Michael Stidham-conditioned #5 Don’t Ghost Me (3-1) will be added, too.

Race 3 – Maiden Optional Claiming

Juvenile fillies will be featured in the second leg, a 5 1/2-furlong sprint on the main strip. #8 Sugaree (5-2) flashed potential when second best at Churchill Downs in her unveiling and seems most logical in the event. The daughter of By My Standards will be forwardly placed throughout.

#9 My Lady Jbella (9-2) draws well on the outside, shows some solid morning moves, and the Jane Cibelli pupil is also a half-sister to a two-year-old winner, as well. Daughter of exciting freshman sire Maxfield could come out running under Victor Carrasco.

Race 4 – Claiming

The one-mile turf event for the boys attracted an overflow field of 14 in a competitive contest. #9 Kansas Comet (4-1) fell just short in his first appearance since 2023 at Laurel Park last time out and rates a big chance in this spot. The Keri Brion trainee has the speed to be in range throughout and wouldn’t be a surprise beneath Villalobos.

#8 Union Bulldog (5-1) is interesting for Michael Stidham. The Goldencents gelding drops in class for his second run of the season, and he will also have blinkers removed for the tilt. The bay broke his maiden on the course in 2024 and will have Arrieta ride. #5 Drilling for Gold (9-2) broke his maiden in a first run for Russell in October and makes his seasonal debut on Saturday. This barn is very good with layoff runners in general, so I feel inclined to add the son of Twirling Candy.

Race 5 – Miss Disco S.

The co-feature of the afternoon is a seven-furlong event on the dirt for locally bred sophomore fillies with eight signed on. #4 Mila Candy (5-2) would be a logical single to close out the wager for Kantarmaci. Twirling Candy filly has run three good ones in succession and comes off a decent stakes run in the Empire State most recently. She gets blinkers for the first time and could be controlling speed beneath Gonzalez.

#5 Winfinity (4-1) exits a highly rated allowance race at Churchill Downs in her second run of the year and will cut back in distance today. She is a stakes winner on the oval and might be closing best of all late at a fair price. #7 Safe Trust (12-1) has excuses for her last two outings and gets back to what she does best. Stakes-winning lass has appeal at a price for Corrales.
