Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025

Dick Powell analyzes the Tuesday action at Presque Isle Downs and offers his selections.
Race 1
1st: (3) DRUNKLE – dropped down to this class level and was a good second, then came back and just missed against the same group. Leland Hayes wins 16% with his overall claimers and 15% with his sprinters.
2nd: (5) CHUBS ROCKET – broke his maiden in his seventh start when blinkers were added for the first time. He came back with an even fourth when shuffled back from post one for Kevin Rice, who wins 35% with Israel Rodriguez.
Race 2
1st: (3) WASHINGTON’S UNION – has been running on the dirt out of state against better company, so the son of Constitution tries PID for the first time. Justin Radosevich wins 30% first start after being beaten as the favorite.
2nd: (6) I’M NO ANGEL – horse for the course moves up in class off the claim when he won at today’s distance. Lary Hayes wins 19% with his overall claimers and goes with Gallardo, who has won aboard him in the past.
3rd: (5) CAMINO DE SANTIAGO – raced evenly at long odds going six furlongs, then was a good second.
Race 3
1st: (4) BLUESUP GREENSDOWN – still a maiden after 12 tries. She was a good second here, going a mile in a slow-paced race, then was a distant third last out. Gallardo stays as a sign of confidence.
2nd: (1) KUKU – just missed on the dirt at Laurel to finish last season, then came back this season and showed better gate speed when Lasix was added, and she was third on the dirt as the 3-10 favorite.
3rd: (3) STARSHIP LEGACY – made a decent middle moved two starts back in a slow-paced race here.
Race 4
1st: (6) SWEET NOLA – horse for the course began this season with two strong wins, then was second in fast times. Juan Arriagada wins 29% first start after being beaten as the favorite, and he goes with Gallardo.
2nd: (2) RIGHT NOW – ran well two starts back in a stakes race here at long odds without Lasix, then was a good second last out going six furlongs in very fast time. Tim Girten wins 16% going short to long.
3rd: (1) ALCOHOL – was only beaten a length two starts back against this level, then romped against one level cheaper.
Race 5
1st: (5) UNCLE TRULY – raced evenly in fast time against this open allowance level two starts back, then just missed by a head. Gelded son of Uncle Mo draws well in the middle with Gallardo back aboard.
2nd: (4) SHADOW FACTOR – ran second two starts in a row here against this allowance level going short, then just missed in a turf stakes race going two turns. Ron Potts wins 29% going from turf to synthetic.
3rd: (1) RECYCLE – was up and down the class ladder all last season, then romped on the turf at Mountaineer.
Race 6
1st: (7) RANSOM MONEY – dropped down to this class and distance, and he responded with a good second in fast time. He raced evenly when moved up in class and distance last out for Teresa Connelly.
2nd: (1) AWESOME WIND – raced evenly on the turf last out at Mountaineer Park, then made his PID debut with a good third going 5 1/2 furlongs at long odds. Jay Bernardini wins 19% with his overall claimers.
3rd: (2) TIZ BIG MONEY – his last two starts here put him in the mix against this group.
Race 7
1st: (3) CLOUD IN THE WIND – was a decent second here behind a next-out winner two starts back, then was a closer third on the dirt at Penn. She returns here for Brandon Kulp, who wins 24% second start off the layoff.
2nd: (1) A CASE OF YOU – horse for the course is four for four here, but they all came going two turns. She beat open allowance foes last out for Scooter Davis, who wins 22% going long to short.
3rd: (2) GENEVIEVE’S Z VA – horse for the course has won ten times here, including going this distance.
Race 8
1st: (7) ARTEMPUS – broke his maiden here in his PID debut, then he came back to win easily in his first start off the claim by Arriagada. He raced evenly in his last two starts and now drops way down in class.
2nd: (6) TRAVELLER – ran well against this maiden claiming level with four in-the-money placings here, going one turn. She tries them again from a middle post for Ron Potts, who wins 22% on synthetic tracks.
3rd: (2) MOHTAFIL – one-dimensional closer won two in a row, then was third against this class level.
