Wednesday Harness Preview for 7/2/2014

Wednesday evening marks the penultimate card of the Harrington Raceway spring meet and the 12-race program offers a good blend of races for trotters and pacers with two-thirds being designed for the latter.
In the fourth race on the card, a non-winners of $7501 last five starts/optional $15,000 claiming race for trotters, the two best horses drew the two inside posts and their rivals will have a difficult time splitting them in the exacta.
Deliver Delovin, a seven-year-old Malabar Man gelding trained and driven by Victor Kirby, has been second three times and third once in his last four tries in this class but draws the coveted rail and has ample speed to benefit from the inside spot. Little King Cole (Jim Morand) was fourth in this group after getting an early shuffle, but should secure the pocket trip on the first turn tonight.
One race later in a non-winners of four races lifetime event for pacing fillies and mares, Margaux (Bret Brittingham) seeks her third straight tally for owner-breeder-trainer William "Doc" Moffett and draws the rail. But two of her foes look primed for an upset.
Lyonsaura (Ross Wolfenden) has set the fractions in each of her last two while second and third and will likely do so again from post five. The four-year-old Camluck mare has been second three times and third once in this class. Crushed Again will be pointing for the $100,000 DSBF final for three-year-old pacing fillies here on the July 24 Governor's Day card and drew post seven but could be a factor late.
One race later in the featured $17,000 Open Handicap for trotters which is missing the two best trotters on the grounds, Traverse Seelster and NF Happenstance, Cash On Delivery should be able to work out a winning trip for trainer-driver Vince Copeland from post five. His main threat, Spunky Jack (Roger Plante, Jr.) drew outside but has enough early speed to make the front through the first turn.
Several races later in the 11th, a non-winners of $2551 last five starts class for trotters, U-B (Jonathan Robert) draws the rail and will likely be the even-money favorite despite being winless from 17 starts this year. But he missed last week and could be vulnerable. Jodi Lin (Mike Rossi) has ample early speed and should be forwardly placed throughout and Blue Valley (Wolfenden) can rally late even without cover.
Then in the Wednesday finale, the other half of the split, non-winners of four races lifetime for pacing fillies and mares, give Ghost Like (Plante) a chance for the upset. The sophomore filly raced well last week and moves in from the six hole to the coveted rail, while favored Annabeth (George Dennis), who is 6 for 7 at the meet and riding a three-race win streak, and Caviart Savannah, who always draws money despite having only one win in 18 outings, both missed last week.
