Jerry Hollendorfer Set to Make History

With sleigh bells ringing and tote machines printing it should be a happy time of year, but the weekend is a sad one as Hollywood Park will close forever with an 11 race card on Sunday with a scheduled final race post time of 5:35 PT.
The final weekend of Hollywood will be a celebration of the track's history. The final two stakes to be run will be the Soviet Problem Stakes on Saturday for two year old Cal bred fillies going seven furlongs while on Sunday the King Glorious Stakes for two year old Cal bred colts and geldings going seven furlongs will be run.
After a tremendous weekend capped by Shared Belief winning the Grade 1 Cash Call Futurity, Hall Of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer is now tied with Hall of Fame trainer Charlie Whittingham for the most stakes wins at a Hollywood Clark autumn meet with six. Hollendorfer will have two opportunities to break the tie for the record with Swiss Lake Yodeler in the Soviet Problem and with Pray Hard as well as Life Is a Joy in the King Glorious.
Swiss Lake Yodeler is a 2-1 morning line favorite off her victory in the Golden State Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Santa Anita on November 1. She cuts back from a mile to seven furlongs and Rafael Bejarano, who was one win ahead of Joe Talamo in the jockey standings when this blog was written, picks up the mount.
The main competition should come from Global Hottie. The Bob Baffert trainee, comes off a 4 1/2 length maiden win at six and a half furlongs on November 17. An interesting horse to look at is the John Sadler trainee Shysheisnot. She only has one career start where she finished second behind Global Hottie. But she broke slow that day and she should improve off that effort.
In the King Glorious, Pray Hard looks to be the best chance for Hollendorfer to get the victory. He comes off an impressive 5 1/4 length maiden win going six furlongs on November 30. Life Is a Joy had won his first three starts in Northern California but has finished fifth in both starts since shipping to Southern California.
Better Bet won the Golden State Juvenile Stakes going a mile at 47 to 1 two starts back. He should run on or close to the pace. California Chrome had a troubled start in the golden state but still finished well to be beaten three lengths. He has worked well since then and gets a positive jockey switch to Victor Espinoza.
At Gulfstream Park, two year olds will be featured in the Grade 3 Dania Beach at a mile on the turf. The morning line favorite is Pleuven trained by Chad Brown. After winning his last two starts in France, Pleuven was purchased privately by Robert LaPenta and Gary and Bradley Finder . Since Brown has taken over training, he has been working consistently well while in company on the grass. Alan Garcia has the mount.
Brown also sends out Request. In his only start he came from next to last to break his maiden by neck Belmont Park. Brown's go to jock Javier Castellano rode that day and retains the mount here.
Mr. Speaker is an intriguing prospect trained by Shug McGaughey. He wired field to break his maiden at Belmont on October 14. He has been working steadily at Payson Park for this spot and he doesn't necessarily need the lead in here.
Bon Accord comes from the always dangerous Antonio Sano barn. In his last start he finished fourth in the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf. He now gets Lasix again while Joel Rosario retains the mount.
