Following an unprecedented outcome in the 2022 Run for the Roses, the Kentucky Derby (G1) is back for its 149th edition, set for Saturday, May 6, at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
This year, the field of 20 three-year-old Thoroughbreds racing in the 1 1/4-mile event is headlined by champion two-year-old Forte, the 3-1 morning line favorite. Trained by two-time Kentucky Derby winner Todd Pletcher, Forte will look to become just the third horse to win the Kentucky Derby after triumphing in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at age two.
Forte will be joined in the Derby field by stablemates Kingsbarns (12-1 morning line odds) and Tapit Trice (5-1), while 2021 Kentucky Derby-winning trainer Brad Cox has an arsenal of contenders, including Verifying (15-1), Angel of Empire (8-1), Hit Show (30-1), and Jace’s Road (50-1).
You can watch and wager on the Kentucky Derby at TwinSpires, or follow along with live coverage on NBC from noon to 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 6.
