The 37th annual Breeders’ Cup World Championships will feature some of the most talented Thoroughbreds from around the globe competing in a series of Grade I races, including the renowned Breeders’ Cup Classic.
The two-day racing event at Keeneland race course in Lexington, Kentucky, Nov. 6-7, will include the likes of Kentucky Derby winner Authentic, Belmont champion Tiz the Law, and prize filly Swiss Skydiver.
In the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic, you’ll find gray horse Tacitus, a popular pick to win the 2019 Kentucky Derby, along with Authentic, champion of the 2020 Run for the Roses.
Authentic will represent one of the three entries in the Classic for trainer Bob Baffert. The other two are Improbable, the 5-2 morning-line favorite, and Maximum Security, who was famously disqualified from winning the 2019 Derby for interference.
Some of the less familiar names in the Classic include longshot Global Campaign, ridden by Javier Castellano, and Tom’s d’Etat, a seven-year-old son of Goldencents.
While they may not boast the most favorable odds, these under-the-radar runners could upset the pack on Saturday evening and provide a nice payout if they finish in the money. Anything can happen in the Classic, where favorites are far from a sure thing.
Before you handicap the Classic based on speed figures, the best horse name, or your favorite number, let’s see what your personality has to say about which horse you should bet on in Saturday's final race.
Take our quiz below to find out which Breeders’ Cup contender is most like you, and put a little money down on the result!
