Yonkers and Meadowlands focus on Friday
While many superstitious horse players will bypass wagering tomorrow on Friday the 13th, others might find the cards at Yonkers Raceway and The Meadowlands too tempting to resist.
Friday's second race at Yonkers is a non-winners of $13,850 last five starts class and optional $30,000 claiming event for trotters. Money Maven (George Brennan) a regular in the Open Handicap during the winter, seeks his second straight score against conditioned foes and leaves from post six, but railbound Soul Train (Mark MacDonald) gets class and post relief tomorrow night and should be formidable throughout from the coveted rail.
Then just past the midway point of the card, look for Krispy Apple (Jason Bartlett) to regain her winning ways in the $40,000 F-M Open Handicap despite getting post seven. Krispy Apple won two legs of the tough Bluechip Matchmaker Series before drawing post eight for the final.
Mach It A Par (Brian Sears) makes her second start since the Matchmaker and gets the rail, while last week's F-M Open winner Tessa Seelster (George Brennan) avoids the usual outside assignment and will seek a repeat from post two for trainer Ron Burke.
Two races later in the ninth, the $30,000 F-M Preferred, look for Alhambra (George Brennan) and Handsoffmycupcake (Daniel Dube) to settle the issue in the lane from posts one and three, respectively. Handsoffmycupcake makes her second start of the season and should be much tighter this week.
Then two races later in the finale, a non-winners of $18,000 last five starts class for pacing fillies and mares, back Heretic Franco N (Brennan) with considerable confidence. Last week she was parked the mile first over in the F-M Preferred and settled for fifth. She should be able to work out an ideal trip tomorrow night from post four.

One of those four-year-olds is Pinkman (Yannick Gingras), last year's champion three-year-old colt trotter and trotter of the year after winning 11 of 17 starts and nearly $2 million for trainer Jimmy Takter. Pinkman makes his four-year-old debut off two modest qualifiers and appears superior on paper, although Father Patrick brought the same credentials last year and proved to be a resounding flop at age four.
Two other four-year-olds are also slated for this event. Jewels In Hock (John Campbell) was last year's NYSS champion 3yoct when he won nine of 17 starts and banked $350,000 and debuts here, while Wings Of Royalty (Tim Tetrick) owns a win this year and will be among the logical choices in this affair.
