Yonkers and Rosecroft offer Solid Cards
This Saturday night Yonkers Raceway will offer local older pacers one last chance to prep for the ultra-tough and lucrative George Morton Levy Memorial Series that gets under way the following Saturday evening, then on Sunday evening Rosecroft Raceway will present its first Sunday card of the spring meet in a switch from its typical program.
Saturday's third race at Yonkers is the first part of a seven-way split non-winners of $18,000 last five starts class for pacers. Railbound Let's Drink On It (Tyler Buter) appears the obvious choice following a good, second-place finish against tougher last weekend in his season debut. One Through Ten (Daniel Dube) raced well at this level last week, as did Terror Time A (Brian Sears) who was the beaten favorite in this class last week when second while racing into a solid back half with dull cover.
One race later on the card, railbound Caution Signs (Matt Kakaley) should quickly make amends for a dull, sixth-place effort last week at this level. Two starts back this Maryland-bred Dream Away stallion benefited from the rail and a pocket journey to notch his first win of the season in this class. Santanna One (Sears) draws alongside him and figures to be tough after last week's two-move effort from post eight, while Starsky's Dream N (Jordan Stratton) raced very well first over against non-winners of $12,000 last five company last week but also drew post seven again.
Two races later in the $32,000 Open Handicap, Roland N Rock (Daniel Dube) returns after a qualifier at the Meadowlands last week and will race on Lasix for the first time. He was the beaten favorite in this class two starts back behind Polak A and should be tough here. Bad Boy Matt (Mark MacDonald) exited the Open ranks last week and prevailed in the non-winners of $25,000 last five class despite a long, first over journey. Bit Of A Legend N (Stratton) has been superb in three starts since arriving from "down under" and merits respect in his first try at this level despite missing last week.
One race later in the first half of a split, non-winners of $25,000 last five class, any number of horses could win in this wide open affair. Jeneral Patton (Dube) brushed and prevailed against slightly lesser last week but gets the rail again. Cyclone Kiwi N (Brennan) has cut the mile in his last three starts and owns a win, a second- and third-place finish in those outings. Givenupdreaming returns from Dover Downs for trainer Ron Burke and looks tough in here, as does Bullet Bob (Buter), Donau and Texas Terror N.
One race later in the second half of the split class, railbound Chancellorcullen N (Carl Cito, Jr.) led throughout to win at the non-winners of $18,000 last five level last week while in hand late and will look to continue his forward climb against Stolen Car, Dynamic Youth, Rock Icon and Melmerby Beach, the latter trio likely heading to the Levy. Dynamic Youth made his seasonal debut against Open foes at the Meadowlands last week, while Rock Icon exits the Yonkers Open. Melmerby Beach is winless from five starts and draws post eight here.

Boxed Chocolates (Donald Dancer) competed in two local qualifiers and should be tight for her seasonal debut despite drawing post eight.

Semper Fit (Dancer), Rules Little Man (Kim Vincent) and Credit Blues (Berry) raced at Freehold over the break against similar, while Always Quick Star (Mark Gray), Sweet Ben (Berry) and Everyone's Talkin (Russell Foster) competed at Dover. Petty Hanover (Roberts) makes his local debut after seven starts at Woodbine Raceway in Canada.
Just past the midway point of the card a full field of nine pacing fillies and mares will go postward in a non-winners of $6000 last five starts class. Valentina De Vie (Henrik Lundell) raced well in seven outings at the Meadowlands and looks poised for her first win of the season. Fabulous Frieda (Roberts) finished second three times and third once in nine outings at Dover and should be tough despite drawing post seven. Shaker Rei (John Gazzerro), Scoots West (William Carter) and Cape Marj (Moyer) all competed in the same qualifier last week.
Then several races later in the 11th, a non-winners of $4000 last five starts class for pacing fillies and mares, Lark Seelster (Roberts) and Nightly Terror (Roberts) both raced well in local qualifiers and should have a serious fitness edge over their seven rivals who have all been idle since the fall meet ended last December. Roberts is also named on Racquel, a sharp winner on closing night here, so his choice of mares could give an indication as to which one of the trio is best right now.
