Younger pacers highlight Thursday Harrington card
While there may not be any stakes races on the card tomorrow, the Thursday evening card at Harrington Raceway will give several horses a chance to prep for the upcoming Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund events for sophomore pacers of both genders.
In fact, Thursday's fifth race a non-winners of two races or $10,000 lifetime for pacing fillies and mares, either railbound Truthisalwaysbest (Jim Morand) or Angel Speak (Art Stafford) should prevail.
Truthisalwaysbest had been idle three weeks and had the eight hole for her previous outing, but the Jason Skinner trainee has the coveted rail tomorrow and should be poised for her best effort. Angel Speak led throughout to capture her most recent start in 1:58.3 as the 1-5 favorite and looms a genuine repeat threat.
Then two races later in the seventh, a non-winners of two races or $10,000 lifetime class for younger male pacers, give Seaboomook Dreamer (Allan Davis) a solid chance to score from post six.
Last week Seeboomook Dreamer raced first over into a solid back half and finished second in a very good effort. Railbound Gimmethreestepsmr and Look N Back both merit consideration in this spot due to their early speed.
Then two races later in the ninth, a non-winners of four races lifetime class for male pacers, look for railbound Next Success (Morand) to dominate the proceedings in his second start since winning the $100,000 DSBF final for 3yocp at Dover Downs.
But those not willing to take a short price on Next Success or feel compelled to play against him have three legitimate options.
Born In Cuffs (Pat Berry) will start from post two, with Rock Me Henry (Vic Kirby) alongside him and Live Action (Montrell Teague) just to his outside. All three raced well last week and all figure to be generous prices since Next Success has the rail.
Then one race later in the 10th, a non-winners of three races or $15,000 lifetime class for male pacers, career maiden Doctor McSwing (Allan Davis) could finally emerge victorious as the post time choice and end his prolonged bridesmaid status.
Doctor McSwing has finished second I each of his last three starts and has been second four times and third five times in 14 seasonal outings. Of course, that is nothing new for Doctor McSwing who has finished 18 times and third on 13 other occasions in 75 winless lifetime starts in which the career maiden has banked over $70,000.
Of course, those not believing that the 76th time will be the charm for Doctor McSwing could back The Saint, Fight The Truth or Slick Barn and still have a decent chance to cash.
