Younger Pacing Fillies Set to Clash
Tuesday's cards at Dover Downs often focus on the pacing fillies and mares and tomorrow's program will do precisely that although one of the races truly deserves top billing.
Tuesday's eighth race is a non-winners of $80,001 lifetime class for younger pacing fillies and mares and it clearly the most intriguing event on the card. Both Vintage Babe (Yannick Gingras) and Westsluckycam (Corey Callahan) won split editions of this event last week as odds-on favorites in identical clockings of 1:53.2 and Tuesday evening the two young ladies meet in the same event.

Vintage Babe, a four-year-old daughter of Vintage Master trained by Ed Gannon, Jr., and co-owned by Gannon and Gingras, brushed to command in before the half in 56.2 and held safe the late bid of In The Shadows (Tony Morgan) who rallied from last and widest of all to gain the place spot. In the other split that night, Westsluckycam brushed to command before reaching the half in 55.3 and simply drew off to a 13-length score in 1:53.2 for trainer Doug Lewis.
So Tuesday's eighth race will pit both talented, youthful pacing fillies against one another in the toughest split condition. Vintage Babe has performed well for the past month, but the big performance from Westsluckycam last week will likely make her the favorite. In The Shadows displayed a tremendous late kick to finish second to Vintage Babe last week and was unlucky to draw into this split and likely would have been the solid favorite in the other one.
