Upcoming Greyhound Races and Race Preview for June 22nd and 23rd
Saturday June 22nd
Bluffs Run Greyhound Park: Juvenile Stakes Final, $60,000, Sprint
Southland Greyhound Park: Southland Park Derby, $60,000, Sprint Sunday June 23rd
Dubuque Greyhound Park: King and Queen Stakes 2nd Round, $45,000, Sprint
Wheeling Island: George Kellas Memorial Sprint Classic 2nd Round, $25,000, Sprint
The surprise winner in the last round was the hard closer, L Peanut, although considering her pedigree it really shouldn't have been a surprise. Her sister, L Tootie, also made the finals cut and is in the 7 box in this race. Out of Kiowa Mon Manny and Slatex Porsche, these two siblings run like finely tuned race cars and could very well both make the board here.
Of course, Boc's Sluicy, in the very helpful 1 box will be vying for the early lead, but tends to go wide on the turns, which won't help with this competition. She'll have to overcome that habit to keep the lead, but she has done that in the past.
I'd have more faith in Hilco Single if she was in an inside box, where her early breaking skills show up more often. Not that she couldn't manage to outbreak the field if she's on her A game, but it won't be easy for her from the 6 box.
Boc's Phantom in the 3 box is a very versatile runner that can break from the inside and outside and run wherever he needs to for racing room. If he gets loose on the lead, he withstands pressure with grim determination and won't be denied.
His kennel mate, Boc's John Luke, is also impressive if he gets the break and has 11 out of 17 for the quiniela and a very impressive 14 out of 17 for the trifecta. It's hard to leave him out of any bets, even at this level.
PK Chilly hasn't done her best from the 8 box. She's been wide on the turns when she's in outside boxes, although if she does get the lead, she won't relinquish it willingly and hangs tough.
The seemingly outclassed KL's Bubba in the 4 box is a game breaker but tends to fade in the stretch when pressed. In this company, he will certainly be put to the test, whether or not he gets the lead, which doesn't look likely unless Lady Luck smiles on him.
Only one greyhound can emerge as the winner of the Juvenile Stakes tonight. Watch and wager and get your free programs on Bet America as this exciting stakes series comes to an end. Good racing luck and safe trips to all the runners on tonight's program at Bluff's Run.
