Australia Racing Preview for 5/9/2014

May 9th, 2014

Saturday racing is back at Headquarters with the biggest attraction probably being the half-sister to Black Caviar and All Too Hard, Belle Couture! But there is also a lot of other horseflesh that will be going around and is itching to make us money! So let’s take a look at a few fields and see if we can do just that!

FLEMINGTON – AUS A

RACE 3 - SPOTLESS PLATE 1200m of $80000 (AUS)

Some highly promising fillies engaged, tough to sort. SCATCAT was wide/keen/good last time off that nice finale in strong PJ Bell Stakes in Sydney. AWASITA beat her there at Hillside and also ran very well. Black Caviar's half-sister BELLE COUTURE looked good winning fresh, on debut she was touched off by Paddy's Gem who then ran well to smart Spirit's Dance and that form ties COBBLESTONES in strongly here. NICAMORAE is another nicely-related filly who impressed big time here on Anzac Day. MIRACLE TO ME is better suited 1200m and has a case. I'M FEARSOME, SENTFROMTHESTARS and HOT MAMA next.

SELECTIONS – BELLE COUTURE / NICAMORAE / COBBLESTONES

RACE 5 - SECONDBITE FRESH FOOD RESCUE 1400m of $100000 (AUS)

GRACIOUS PROSPECT has a 5.5kg swing on WRITTEN UP from that Bendigo Guineas; he then went to Adelaide and was a game third behind two who have since run very well in strong races. TANKSTER (best late splits) and BY THE GRACE (hardly had ideal run) were good behind SEARCH SQUAD at Hillside. Tankster has no weight but draws way out. KINGDOM OF DREAMS is highly promising, as is MISS MAGGIEBEEL; she can beat these males fresh. LAST SIGHT impressed last time. IL GATTINO goes in wider quad too.

SELECTIONS – GRACIOUS PROSPECT / TANKSTER / KINGDOM OF DREAMS

RACE 6 - ALL VICTORIAN SPRINT SERIES HEAT 2 1100m of $80000 (AUS)

LONHSPRESSO resumes and her fresh form is good. The last time we saw her she was 3.9L off Lankan Rupee at WFA with the pattern of the day against her. PAMPELONNE is a serious talent. This is his first run for this stable; he won his first three fresh runs. Betting? Gate one? Not sacking VIBRANT ROUGE off the fresh run at 1000m, you could argue she should be unbeaten (four from four) second up. LE BONSIR is a must. He has G1 WFA form on the CV and the claim is useful. RICH JACK is a hope. DANGER CLOSE (flying) and GENERAL PEEKAY (fitter) are hopes too.

SELECTIONS – LONHSPRESSO / PAMPELONNE / LE BONSIR

RACE 8 - FLEMINGTON GREEN FIELDS HANDICAP 1400m Of $80000. (AUS)

Concede SPECTER is overdue for another win but did like the way he emerged from the pack 2nd-up in a race where lead-two pinched a huge break and he split them on the line. HENWOOD was almost as good, and only 2nd-up. He has the better strike-rate! SOROS blew the start that same race and ran well given that. TRIED AND TIRED looks promising. He had a neat turn of foot last time and the one he beat prior (Lady Lakshmi) has certainly franked his form too! LORD DURANTE and SHADOW NINJA are in this too.

SELECTIONS – HENWOOD / SPECTER / TRIED AND TIRED
