Waterloo Bridge rates as an elso-eligible in both of his Breeders' Cup engagements. Trainer Aidan O'Brien listed his first preference as the Juvenile Turf (G1). Third on the AE list, he should get in, with Ralis and Riker both having the Juvenile (G1) as their first preference, and Isotherm also unexpectedly set to switch to dirt. That option remains open to Waterloo Bridge, who is second on the AE list for the Juvenile, but would need help at this point to draw into the field.
By European champion freshman sire-elect Zoffany, Waterloo Bridge took four tries to break his maiden. But he began to turn the corner with a second to Most Beautiful at Navan (click the link for replay), and finally got the job done at Tipperary.
Waterloo Bridge saved his best performance for Royal Ascot, where he reveled in the fast ground to upset the Norfolk (G2) at 12-1. He did not reappear until the October 3 Tattersalls Millions Two-Year-Old Trophy over seven furlongs at Newmarket. Doing his best work late, he got up for second.
