Big Double-Digit Wins At $42 & $35; Features Flood Toteboard

Thursday, Feb. 18

Both of our features—one at Monticello and one at Yonkers—were cancelled when the day’s programs were cancelled due to a winter storm. 

Friday, Feb. 19

Our double-digit win skein continued in our Meadows feature for the day, delivering another high-priced victory. Magicshore did not make it into the field from the also-eligible list. We suggested if he did not get in to the field, the bet would be Sleepin In The Sun ($35.60, $8.00, $8.60 ok) and it was the bet and he was the winner.

At Yonkers, Solo Leviathon A went off the favorite but even with live cover he could not sustain a good presence, finishing fourth. 

Saturday, Feb. 20

Pocono in the afternoon hosted a pair of our features. In the first, Shane Adam ($3.60) lost to the public’s third choice. In the second feature Bye Bye John ($5.80) also took a show spot.

Our special Woodbine/Mohawk (WoMo) spinoff blog, based on the TwinSpires’ Hit It & Split It offer, we took on the early Pick 5.

In the first leg we won with the favorite, Military Secret ($4.80, $3.40, $2.50), with co-ticket members Machin A Trick (11-1) finishing fourth and Quan Blue Chip (22-1) getting sixth.

In leg two we won with Better Be Donna N ($7.10, $3.10, $2.70), with Kloof Street ($4.10) finishing third.

Leg three was won by the public choice. We finished second with Grandma Heidi ($2.40, $2.10), fourth with Wild And Crazy Guy (35-1) and Dancer Hall (5-1) broke and was eliminated.

Leg four was won by the public choice and our two choices completed the $115.10 trifecta. Second was P L Jackson ($9.30, $3.60) and third was Aintnobettor A ($4.90).

The Pick 5 finale was won by a 47-1 shot. Our two choices, Evanwood Sonofagun (8-5) and Pointtomygranson (10-1), finished off the grid entirely.
 
H2W LIST RESULTS

The H2W results list across-the-board prices. Exactas listed include a H2W horse finishing second to a race-favorite or if the first two finishers are H2W horses (an asterisk appears when both horses are listed—a cold exacta). The note “ok” determines that prices are correct (even when a show price exceeds a place price or all prices are the same).

NEWS & NOTES

Meanwhile, on the west coast of Canada, Harness Racing BC announced the new 2021 race date schedule for Fraser Downs. The Vancouver, British Columbia five-eighths harness raceway resumes programs on Wednesday, March 17. Racing is scheduled for Wednesday and Friday evenings until April 30.

Woodbine Entertainment has announced that all slots for the 2021 Mohawk Million (MM) have been sold. The $1-million race for trotting two-year-olds goes on Sept. 25 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The deadline to purchase one of nine slots in the MM was Feb. 15. Woodbine received contracts to fill all slots. A $50,000 (Canadian) payment was required by the deadline. Purchasers now have until June 1 to submit the remaining $50,000 of the $100,000 slot fee. The MM card is Canada’s richest night of racing for 202.

Chris Ryder enjoyed a stellar 2020 campaign thanks to the stars of his stable: Bettors Wish and Party Girl Hill. With Bettors Wish's first foals on the ground, the now four-year-old mare Party Girl Hill will look to help Ryder into 2021. Bettors Wish retired from his racing career with 24 wins and over $2.7 million in the bank. He finished his four-year-old season with a decisive 1:48.1 score at The Meadowlands last November. Party Girl Hill returns to go against older company. Her near-flawless three-year-old campaign serves as testimony she'll be a major force against any age.
