G2 Charles Town Classic for 4&Up going 1-1/8 mi
No knocks on GAME ON DUDE, coming off what was arguably the best race of his career, but the seven-year-old gelding is going to be our second choice behind CLUBHOUSE RIDE, who is looking to avenge his half-length loss to GAME ON DUDE in last year's Charles Town Classic. CLUBHOUSE RIDE has had a perfect prep schedule for this $1.5-million race and should get a great pace set up with MORENO, RULER OF LOVE and LUCY'S BOB BOY expected to put pressure on the favorite. Of course, that is no easy task as GAME ON DUDE thrives on competition and loves to put rivals away. Any horse that tries to go with him, may not have enough left in the tank to keep going. GAME ON DUDE; however, has proven time and time again he can go fast early then finish late. LONG RIVER looks to be the trip horse and may be worth a bet if close to his 6-1 morning line. He has some early speed, but it's not "on-the-front-end" speed so jockey Irad Ortiz should sit just behind the front-runners and then try to run down the DUDE, which is easier said than done. The Charles Town Classic is the third leg of the all-stakes pick-4 wager that starts in race nine, the Confucius Say Stakes and also includes the Robert Hilton Memorial and $200,000 Sugar Maple.
