Keeneland Sunday picks: $25,541 carryover, $1,000 tournament

The Sunday card at Keeneland includes three stakes, a $25,541 Super High 5 carryover, and a bevy of TwinSpires tournaments led by the $1,000 Keeneland BCBC/NHC Qualifier.

$1,000 Keeneland BCBC/NHC Qualifier

Provided enough players participate, the $1,000 Keeneland BCBC/NHC Qualifier tournament on TwinSpires will award entries into the National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) and Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC).

To climb the leaderboard, you must wager your entire $500 bankroll across at least five races at Keeneland, with at least $50 in a given race required for it to count toward the five-race minimum.

Eligible tournament wagers include win, place, show, exacta, trifecta, and daily double bets. We suggest players play a daily double starting in Race 9, the $650,000 Spinster (G1) for fillies and mares racing 1 1/8 miles on dirt.

Race 9 wager

  • $50 Double: 4 with 8

#4 Fully Subscribed (4-5) is the heavy favorite and a filly worth singling to start the double. A two-time graded stakes winner last year, she’s elevated her game to a new level in 2026. She enters off back-to-back graded wins, including a 9 3/4-length demolition of the 1 1/8-mile Personal Ensign (G1). A similar performance in the Spinster will make Fully Subscribed difficult to defeat.

The second leg of the double is Race 10, the Bourbon (G2) for juveniles racing 1 1/16 miles on turf. #8 Hemingway (5-2) is our choice to win. He made his turf debut in a one-mile maiden special weight at Kentucky Downs last month and fired off a huge effort, leading all the way to dominate by 8 1/4 lengths. He looks like an exciting young grass runner with a bright future, so we’ll take a stand and single him to conclude the double.

$25,541 Super High 5 carryover

In Sunday’s final race at Keeneland, you can chase a $25,541 carryover in the $1 Super High 5.

The afternoon finale is Race 10, the above-mentioned Bourbon. If we’re singling Hemingway to conclude our daily double, then it also makes sense to key him on top in the Super High 5.

Underneath Hemingway, be sure to use #2 Agate (4-1), the third-place finisher from the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile; #3 Bold Leadership (7-2), runner-up by a neck in the With Anticipation (G3); #9 Blaring Ambition (15-1), who charged from far back to win his debut in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight at Kentucky Downs; and #11 Mid American (10-1), who exits a win in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Sprint.

Good luck!
