The Saturday card at Colonial Downs is highlighted by a lucrative $24,223 carryover in the 50-cent Late Pick 5.
The wager gets underway in Race 5 at 2:12 p.m. ET. There’s also a $1,173 Pick 6 carryover up for grabs starting in Race 4 at 1:44 p.m. ET.
Whether you’re pursuing one or both carryovers, we’ve identified a pair of viable singles to build tickets around:
Race 7: #2 Hollywood Walk (9-5)
The $100,000 Camptown H. for fillies and mares sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs over the inner turf course looks ripe for conquest by Hollywood Walk. The six-year-old mare boasts an 8-4-1-2 record at Colonial Downs and exits a stretch-running win in the Aug. 9 Andy Guest S. over this course, distance, and class level.
Some bettors might opt to include #6 Bosserati (5-2) as well, since Bosserati is a pure pacesetter with a tactical advantage over Hollywood Walk. But they’ve met on six occasions since July 2024, including in the Andy Guest, and Hollywood Walk finished ahead of Bosserati on each of those occasions. We’re willing to bet Hollywood Walk can maintain her edge in the Camptown and deliver victory as a short-priced single.

Race 8: #8 Determined Kingdom (8-5)
Determined Kingdom looks tough to beat while dropping in class for the $100,000 Meadow Stable H., a 5 1/2-furlong sprint taking place over the outer turf course.
The six-year-old gelding exits a fine try in the 5 1/2-furlong Troy (G2) at Saratoga, in which he finished third by 2 1/2 lengths after staying close to a quick pace.
Determined Kingdom has run strongly at Colonial Downs in the past. His lifetime record over the Colonial lawn stands at 10-6-1-1 and includes a win in the 2024 Meadow Stable. That triumph came by three-quarters of a length over #1 Whenigettoheaven (7-2), who is back for a rematch.
Whenigettoheaven is a logical challenger after defeating Determined Kingdom twice this year, including by three-quarters of a length in the six-furlong Ben’s Cat S. at Laurel Park in June. But Determined Kingdom has been gradually rounding back to peak form, and his performance in the Troy suggests he’s ready to turn the tables on Whenigettoheaven and successfully defend his Meadow Stable title.
Good luck!
