Dick Powell's Australian Pick of the Week May 8

Race 2 at Hawkesbury (Australia A) on Wednesday night is a 1 1/8-mile maiden race. The track is expected to be "Soft-5," which is pretty neutral ground.
#9 SAVIGNE rallied for third first up off a brief rest against maiden company then came back against benchmark 64 handicap horses and she rallied for second while carrying three pounds more. Three-year-old daughter of Ocean Park seems to be able to handle any ground and trainer Chris Waller has been having a strong season with 16% winners and 56% in the money.
#8 JOYOUS TIMES has had nine chances to graduate and has a second and five thirds. Two starts back at Newcastle, she was a good third after taking the lead going this distance. The daughter of monster galloper So You Think weakened late that day and she came back with a well-rated second at Gosford when stretched out farther. If she can relax like she did last out, she can race near the pace and seize the advantage late.
#4 KISS THE BRIDE ran well in both starts last year and now seems to be on a positive form cycle. He has run well in three starts this year as the distances increased and now stretches out for the red-hot Bjorn Baker, who is 12-for-50 lately. The son of Savabeel took money in his last start and he is certainly bred to get a distance that he has never tried. If she has rounded back to last year's form, she will be tough in here.
Savigne drops back down to maiden company after running well against better last out and figures here.
