Dover Downs and Rosecroft Offer Solid Thursday Cards
After the Mid-Atlantic region was enveloped by steady, cold rains on Tuesday, milder, drier conditions are expected to return for the Thursday cards that Dover Downs and Rosecroft Raceway will offer.
In the second race on the Thursday card at Dover, a solid field of eight older pacers will clash in a non-winners of $12,001 last six starts class. Yonkers regular Flem N Em N (Yannick Gingras) will head postward as the slight favorite for trainer Jeff Bamond, Jr., while just to his inside are Golden Gun (Pat Berry) and Rock N Roll Jet (Bret Brittingham), a Buddy Bright trainee who owns nine wins, $58,500 banked and a mark of 1:50.3 at Rosecroft where he was a fixture in the Open.
One race later in another tough non-winners of $16,501 last six starts class for older pacers, Special T Rocks (Jim Morand) will look to prove that his 15-1 upset in this class last week was no fluke when she leaves from post eight. Railbound Rangers Sureshot (Gingras) looms a major threat for trainer Ron Burke and is the lone starter in for the $30,000 claiming tag. Feel Like A Fool (Jonathan Roberts) and Major Uptrend (Montrell Teague) will get serious backing in this spot, while Extreme Machine N (George Dennis) posts an upset chance for trainer Jeff Clark.
Then just past the midway point of the card, another evenly matched group will meet in the $18,000 4-Under Open for pacers. Wakizashi Hanover (Tim Tetrick) rates the solid choice from post seven, although the talented millionaire will have to rebound from a third-place finish as the odds-on choice in this spot last week following a good third-place effort in the inaugural $100,000 Potomac Pace at Rosecroft on Nov. 22 won by All Bets Off in 1:48.2. Defending champion Soto (Art Stafford, Jr.) and Rock N Roll World (Gingras), another Burke trainee, both merit respect.

Just to his inside is the classy Dancin Yankee (Corey Callahan), who brings a solid 8-9-3 slate and $145,000 banked from 30 starts this year for trainer Josh Green, while Yonkers regular Ideal Cowboy (Tetrick) seeks to improve on his 6-3-2 slate and $127,000 bankroll from 24 starts this year for Bamond.
That same evening at Rosecroft Raceway, much of the focus will be on the featured eighth race, the $12,000 Maryland Special F-M Open Handicap for various reasons. DVC Kolor Me Krazy (Kim Vincent) brings a three-race win streak for trainer Jeff Whaley, while Breadcrumb Income (Brian Burton) seeks her third straight score and fifth win at the meet.
