During the opening days of the Ellis Park meet, bettors have had trouble hitting the $1 Super High 5 in the final race each afternoon. That was the case again on Saturday, so there’s a $5,755 Super High 5 carryover available to chase in Sunday’s second race.
Ellis Park Race 2: Super High 5 wagers
- $1 Super High 5: 3 with 1 with 4,6,7,8 with 4,6,7,8 with 4,5,6,7,8 ($36)
- $1 Super High 5: 3 with 4,6,7,8 with 1 with 4,6,7,8 with 4,5,6,7,8 ($36)
Total: $72
Race 2 is a $50,000 claimer for horses who have never won two races. Eight horses have turned out to contest the 6 1/2-furlong dirt dash, and it’s a tough field to analyze because the majority of the entrants have recently suffered sound defeats at the $50,000 level.

One exception is #3 Frosty Indulgence (5-2), the third-place finisher from the 2024 Lafayette S. sprinting seven furlongs at Keeneland. The four-year-old gelding has been competing against tougher competition, and three starts back he ran second in an $80,000 claimer for non-winners of two races. That event took place over about seven furlongs at Keeneland, and Frosty Indulgence was beaten only one length by a next-out winner after pressing the pace and leading in midstretch.
We suggest keying Frosty Indulgence on top in the Super High 5. But who to use underneath? That’s a tougher question.
Brisnet Speed ratings suggest #1 Handsome Herb (7-2) is a worthy contender. Although he exits a fourth-place finish in a seven-furlong sprint over this class level at Churchill Downs, that defeat yielded a respectable 80 Brisnet Speed rating. And two starts back, he earned an 86 when smashing a six-furlong $20,000-$12,500 maiden claimer at Oaklawn Park by 14 lengths.
At a larger price, #4 Geno’s Myth (10-1) is intriguing. His last two tries around one turn have been respectable. In a 7 1/2-furlong $40,000 maiden claimer at Churchill Downs, he advanced into a hot pace before taking over to beat a next-out winner with an 81 Brisnet Speed rating.
#6 Remi’s Moon (9-2), #7 Iron Sharpens Iron (5-1), and #8 Googol Joke (6-1) all exit top-six finishes over this class level and are eligible to crack the top five against his largely unremarkable field. #5 Show Master (8-1) could potentially get involved too, but we’ll relegate him to the bottom of our tickets.
Good luck!
