Essential Quality, Life Is Good listed at 8-1 in Pool 3 of Kentucky Derby Future Wager

Juvenile champion #5 Essential Quality and undefeated Sham (G3) winner #13 Life Is Good have been made the co-individual favorites for Pool 3 of the 2021 Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW). Essential Quality and Life Is Good are both pegged at 8-1, while the mutuel field of "All Other 3-Year-Olds" is listed at 7-2.

Pool 3 of the KDFW will open Friday at noon (ET) and close Sunday at 6 p.m. Wagers can be placed online at www.TwinSpires.com.

While Essential Quality is expected to start in the Southwest (G3) at Oaklawn Park on Monday, after the pool closes, KDFW horses entered to run in Saturday's Risen Star (G2) at Fair Grounds include #12 Keepmeinmind, #14 Mandaloun, #16 Midnight Bourbon, and #21 Senor Buscador. Keepmeinmind is expected to be cross-entered in the Southwest.

The KDFW, which features $2 Win and Exacta wagering, provide fans with opportunities to place bets on possible entrants in the $3 million Kentucky Derby (G1) at odds that could be far greater than those available on the day of the race. The 147th running of Kentucky Derby is set for May 1 at Churchill Downs. 

There are no refunds in the Kentucky Derby Future Wager. Should Churchill Downs officials determine during the duration of this week’s three-day pool that one of the wagering interests has experienced an injury, illness or other circumstance that would prevent the horse from participating in the Kentucky Derby, betting on the individual horse will be suspended immediately.

Dates for the remaining 2021 Kentucky Derby future pools are Mar. 5-7 (Pool 4) and Mar. 26-28 (Pool 5). The lone Kentucky Oaks Future Wager (KOFW) will coincide with Pool 4 of the KDFW.
