February Features Launch At Freehold, Meadowlands And Miami Valley Pick 3

TwinSpires Staff

February 2nd, 2017

February 2017. It’s still the lonesome winter for stakes.

So, we continue with personal harness-race features from at tracks carried by TwinSpires. Contenders not necessarily endorsed by the public or the public handicappers, promise hefty prices against the meager returns from most predictors. Profiting on pari-mutuels continues, so pay close attention to our suggested contenders in these feature races and those available on our H2W (horses-to-watch) list in win, place, show and all exotic pools. Do your own handicapping, and then compare and consider our selections when betting.

Freehold/ Race 7
Thursday, Feb. 2

In a short field of seven there are three Morning Line (ML) contenders that devour the win pool at 9-5, 2-1 and 9-2, leaving a lot of space for value in a few others that could upset the top three. Firs and foremost, Deny Deny Deny leaves from a great spot to suck along and save enough ground to take over from a duel that could knock out Liscloon and Q Rock. The other ML favorite, Rockinwiththebest, has to push hard from post 7 but could defy Q Rock and compromise Liscloon’s journey.

Also, from post 6, with a ML of 30-1, The Bad Deputy has the style to sit farther back than “Deny” and if there is a duel, will make the best of it and if he gets started closing early enough on a duel may edge into a win. These two could rattle the exotic results in favor of a huge price.

Meadowlands/ Race 9
Thursday, Feb. 2

It’s proper to give Broadies Song another chance, especially from post 10, which could increase his odds after a strong 3-1 attempt in this class. Whatagamble comes into the race off a win and is apt to get strong support again. A few others have excuses in their last race and have faired well at this level and UF Fast Feeling was claimed and goes for new connections after dropping into this class. Still, Broadies Song could elude most of the crowd and deliver a stronger win than expected from post 10.

Miami Valley/ Pick 3/ Races 3,4,5
Friday, Feb. 3

Starting off the Pick 3, Race 3 offers a ML outsider, though that status is questionable. Dune On Time came from Dayton in ’16 and sped out in a conditioner a tad higher than this one, dueling to a halt for the first two calls. Here, she may control the pace by getting the top or sit quietly behind favorite Rock N Roll Rosie until a point in the stretch where she can easily pass that one. We would not be surprised if Dune On Time is supported stronger than her 15-1 ML indicates.

In the second leg, Race 4, Ride A Cowboy is hard to deny and deserves to be on your ticket. However, on the rail, Tashia could be a major problem, if not a better price. She returns to Miami after a miserable 7-hole attempt at Northfield and she could try to take this field wire to wire. The ML lists her at 8-1, which would be delicious, especially against Ride A Cowboy, who does pace the risk of hanging again.

The last leg, Race 5, could offer a strong contender that is 12-1 on the ML. From ost 10 (second tier), ER Truevalue gets a good shot at winning, as he almost did in this class two back. He was coming off a win, stepping up, and battled two others at the wire to get third. The race that followed was a pitiful journey from post 9 (outside post). The crowd should be spreading its win money out over a few of the ML choices, assuring a price for ER Truevalue. Certainly, Marco DeVie could supply a better price than deserved, which would suggest you use him,

Meadowlands/ Race 7
Saturday, Feb. 4

Trainer Sean Bier sends El Bloombito to the post after he claimed the gelding for $30 grand last week. This six-year-old is in a great spot for Sean to make much of his money back and the fact that he puts the steed into a conditioner is very positive. The horse has done well in conditioners near this level since winning a few levels down at Philadelphia. He would be a good start to nailing this Pick-4 contest.

H2W Legend

Review our choices and follow the wagering at the prescribed track. These are possible contenders we have judged from reviewing races. The horses’ names are listed beneath the name of the track after the date they will be racing. The race in which they are entered (R and race number) follows. If a + is in front of a horse’s name it means it is appearing on the list for the second (and last) time because it failed to win the first time it appeared. An “ae” signals the horse is entered on the also-eligible list. If a horse is listed twice, refer to the entries on the night of the race since a horse may enter in more than one race. Types of wagering on any of the H2W listed horses are based on your judgment. If you have any questions, email us at TwinSpires.
