Green Bluegrass Trotters Open Grand Circuit Racing At The Red Mile

Thursday night, Sept. 29 at The Red Mile initiates a fortnight’s worth of stakes racing starting with six divisions of the $334,500 Bluegrass for two-year-old trotting colts.

Division one attracts four “Crown” hopefuls: Long Tom, Live For Greatness, Equestrianconxtion and Andy M.

Equestrianconxtion should offer the best price, exiting less lucrative races than the others. Though, he is entering the race sharp and has the potential to ride an easy trip.

Moonshiner Hanover, Southwind Cobra, Ebury Street, Signal Hill and Sortie are Crown eligible in the second split.

Signal Hill and Sortie should take the most play, the former for his class and the latter for his victory parking the mile at the Meadowlands. The best price in this division may come from the lone ineligible Shake It Off Lindy, who is entering the race sneakily sharp.

Round three gathers Mountain Of Love, Meme Hanover, Snowstorm Hanover and Sir John F against the probable favorite and Crown ineligible International Moni. His neighbor from post 4, Snowstorm Hanover, should offer a valuable price following his break in the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes (PASS) Championship. While the public veers from him because of his uncommon gait issues, they’ll neglect the talent he has shown when he stays flat.

Dunbar Hall, Southwind Woody, Fly On and Lars Perry are the Crown hopefuls of the Bluegrass’s division four. While ineligible, Always A Good Time should offer a decent price as he exits a fourth-place effort at the Delaware County Fair in the Ohio Breeders Championship and adds Lasix.

Peter Haughton-winner What The Hill is among four other Crown hopefuls in the fifth division.

New Jersey King, Muscles Jared, Bad Nite Call Saul and Simply Volo are also eligible and Simply Volo should be a good price because he’s entered against Muscles Jared and What The Hill, whose resumes appear sharper than his. However, with the right trip, he is as good as them.

All but Arch Enemy are Crown eligible in the final Bluegrass split.

Exiting the PASS Championship, Dover Dan should provide value. Parking the mile and finishing fifth, the Andover Hall colt out of CR Kay Suzie (arguably one of the finest trotters, male or female, in a few decades) demonstrates the resilience of his bloodline, which is sometimes shadowed by his greenness. All in all, he should be involved.
