Greyhound Preview Palm Beach Evening Card 10/18/2014
By Palm Beach Jason
Great card on tap for the Saturday evening racing in South Florida. Co-wins leader Kiowa Carmen will go for her 11th win of the season in the 8th Race, along with distance dog alpha hound Flying Fala looking to dominate in Race 10.Here are the top races I will be following for the evening racing at “The Beach.”
Race 8 Grade A 545 Yards
Two ways to look at #4 Kiowa Carmen from the Royal Racing Team in this race. She either is going to win, or miss the board entirely. The #1 racer in my Top 10 Rankings last month has run poorly in her last two starts, but will look to rebound against a field that is very beatable tonight. If she doesn’t get in Trifecta, she would be relegated to the lower class, which would have been unthinkable just last month.
Biggest threat to Carmen here looks to be #1 Hustle It Up from the Janie Carroll Kennel. The veteran transfer from Miami has been very competitive in the top grade this season and also won in this same box setup last month.
Longshot could be #7 Sandra Bullock from trainer Kenny Borges who loves the outside and is one of the fastest greyhounds in the field with a 29.51 secs blazer already on her resume this season.
Kiowa Carmen takes sole possession of the season wins lead after winning tonight.
Picks 4-1-7-8
Race 10 Grade TA 660 Yards
Up until last race, there was no doubt that the best 3/8ths miler here was #4 Flying Fala from owner Vince Berland. After getting nipped at the wire in her last start after having a gigantic lead, she will be looking to rebound tonight. Has excellent lid flipping speed and will be looking to put that on display as she goes for season win #9 in this race.
Look out for #5 Odd Manzanita from the Ryan Racing Team who has won 4 of 6 and won out of this same box setup on 10/4.
You probably will get a nice price on #3 Shoo Fly Pie, who did bolt a 37.82 secs W last time out, but will be making her first appearance in the top class.
Flying Fala gets back on track tonight and gets the victory.
Picks 4-5-8-7
Race 15 Grade B 545 Yards
#5 SKN Jackson from the Royal Racing Team has flown under the radar at Palm Beach. The 20 time winner has stolen more than a few races in the top grade and now gets the chance to drop down in class. Has won the last two starts in Grade B and also posted a 29.48 secs win earlier this season.
#1 Boc’s L Janis from the Koppe, Staats & Collins team is sitting in a nice spot in the hot 1 box. Great inside speed and is also a grade dropper that could pop tonight.
Never count out the top Kennel here Rader Racing, with #3 HS Coal Dress looking for career win #15.
SKN Jackson gets back to A Grade where he belongs after winning the finale here.
Picks 5-1-8-3
Top Pick Race 10- #4 Flying Fala
