Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 4/10/2014
Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach For 4/10/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
Palm Beach offers a dynamite Matinee that includes the two best super sprinters in the world facing each other for the first time in Race 4. By far the marquee matchup but there are others that are intriguing as well. Here are the top races I will be following Thursday at “The Beach.”
Race 2 Grade B 545 Yards
Two things I know about this track. Early speed matters and #2 Relativity doesn’t stay in the “B” Grade long. The constant top grade hound owned by Chris Straka has been constantly racing since July and is only making his fourth appearance in this lower grade. Should roll this field to his 26th victory of the season. Look for #8 Dyloot to hit the ticket as well.
Picks: 2 - 8 - 4 - 7
Race 4 Grade TA 316 Yards
Besides the big Stakes races, this has to be one of the best contests this season. The two best at the Super Sprint #5 KB’s Like A Fox and #8 Bae Sang square off remarkably for the first time ever. Like A Fox is your season wins leader with 31 and Bae Sang has finished first or second in all but one of his 13 starts. I’m going with Like A Fox because of the better box and is also racing for 6 straight W’s. Has to be the easiest (and lowest paying) Quinela all year. #3 BlackJack Bryce should also be somewhere on the ticket.
Picks: 5 - 8 - 3 - 6
Race 12 Grade B 545 Yards
The #8 Mega Anchor looks setup to go here. The Grade A hound dropping down goes mid-track out of the box and is sitting next to two Grade C call ups. Also has the best time of this field with a 29.61 scorcher this season and in the prime 8 box. Can’t pass on Anchor for the win here. #1 JS Super Pop on the rail from the Koppe, Stats & Collins will also be in the mix.
Picks: 8 - 1 - 5 - 2
Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards
Classic scenario where you look for closers in a race with a big early speedster. #8 KB’s Royal Roy will lead this race without a doubt but can he hang on at the wire? Good box says maybe but has a history of tiring at go time. #2 Wink and Nod has been impressive since transferring from Hollywood. I like the
B & B racer to win to close out Roy at the end. #4 Kiowa Frank Lazy has 14 wins this season and has some late fire at the end of her runs to be in the Superfecta play.
Picks: 2 - 4 - 1 - 7
Top Pick Race 2- #2 Relativity
Top Sleeper Race 6 - #5 Bills Bulbs
Good luck owners and players!
