Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 4/4/2014

April 4th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

The weekend starts at Palm Beach with an excellent card for the Friday Matinee. 15 fantastic races to get it all started at one of the best greyhound tracks in the country. Here are the top races I will be watching at “The Beach.”

Race #2 Grade C 545 Yards

Love starting out a card in the first few races where I see a racer I really like. #2 Ben Affleck from owner Steve Sarras has been impressive so far. Has finished in the Top 3 in all but one of his first 8 races. Should be near the front at the curve and has a sweet enough close to win this one. #6 CRT Kimmy is the early speed of this one and should hit the ticket, but the win is not probable.  Another Boston area named hound should take the W with Ben Affleck.

Picks: 2 - 6 - 1 - 4

Race 11 Grade B

My play of the day is with the Grade A dropper, #3 Kiowa Precious. Going for win #13 on the season and is sitting between two slow breakers.  Last time in this class, clocked her season’s best time of 29.49 sec and a 5 length win. #7 Eyes Best Bet has a great chance of hitting in the Quinela with that good early steppin. Only has won in this class once this entire season though, which should keep her away from the win.

Picks: 3 - 7 - 8 - 1

Race 12 Grade A 545 Yards

#1 Turbo Nannette is setup to go in the 1 box. Flips the lid very nicely and loves the inside.  The big closer #3Kiowa Frank Top has finished in the Quinela the last three races and should get a piece of the ticket again. Puppy Stakes watch on the #6 Palm City Calico, who will be going for her first Grade A win. The rail speed is too much to say no to in this race. Nannette pulls out a win for Rader Racing.

Picks: 1 - 6 - 3 - 2

Race 15 Grade A 660 Yards

The race of the day without a doubt. #1 Killer Sunshine has the best box to fire out of and just went 37.74 secs for the win last time out in this same box. To me though, the best distance runner at Palm Beach currently is #5 Ghost Buster. Has 12 wins on the season and has gone under 38 secs in 4 of his last 5 races. It will be a B & B Racing Quinela with these two leading the way. Ghost Buster finds a way to the front and holds on against a possible new rival for the victory.

Picks: 5 - 1 - 3 - 4

Top Pick - Race 11 - #3 Kiowa Precious

In the Friday Evening card, the best 545 yard racer going currently is #6 Pat C Dark Ciena goes in Race 10. Is going for 4 straight wins and is worth the watch.
