Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 5/28/2014

May 28th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason
Many of the top win leaders at Palm Beach are set to go for the Wednesday racing action.  15 super races that includes new up and comer Fly Derek Jeter looking for 3 straight in Race 2 and Atascocita Golda going for win #28 in the finale. Lots of great action all day long to watch and enjoy.

Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 2 Grade D 545 Yards

Most Grade D races are not something to get overly excited about but those other races don’t have #1 Fly Derek Jeter running in it.  Going for 3 in a row for Steve Gilster’s Kennel, has improved his time every race he has ran and now gets the prime 1 box to fire out of. Outstanding rush being shown by “The Captain.”

Will see a challenge from fellow hot rookie #5 Rab’s Comin In, who beat Jeter in their first matchup on 5/16.  Rab’s entire litter of 7 brothers and sisters are running at Palm Beach and have been very impressive.

The Yankee namesake will love the inside box and continues his sweet start to his career.

Picks: 1 - 5 - 7 - 3

Race 10 Grade C 545 Yards

It’s not everyday you look at a program and see a racer win by 19 lengths in this sport.  That is exactly what #8 Daphne Zuniga did last time out.  The former A grader and Melrose Place actress namesake is coming back from Mardi Gras and has looked fantastic. Went 29.34 secs for the W last time out and looks to be in top form again.

Rader Racing’s #1 Winta Heart is the grade dropper who could stall Zuniga’s rise back to the top in this one. Recently won in this class and this box on May 4th and is already a 33% winner in her young career.

Zuniga stays hot and rolls into the higher class.

Picks: 8 - 1 - 3 - 6

Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards

The race of the day without a doubt.

The second winningest greyhound this season #1 Atascocita Golda from Suncoast Racing is one of my favorite racers to watch here. Dynamic rush and is an absolute battler.  Gets her favorite box to fire from that she just won from last time out. In fact, she has only lost once ever in this box (7-1). Won’t catch KB’s Like A Fox for the Wins lead this season, but finishing 2nd in the standings would certainly be a huge accomplishment.

One of the hottest dogs at PB this month is #3 Superior Philly. Blistering times in her last two wins and is making a case for making my Top 10 Rankings when they come out next week.

Have to go with the veteran Golda as she continues her fantastic season.

Picks: 1 - 3 - 4 - 2

Top Pick Race 15 - #1 Atascocita Golda
