Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 5/29/2014
by Palm Beach Jason
We are back at Palm Beach for the Thursday racing action. 15 fantastic races to watch and play all afternoon long. Only one Grade A race on the card in the 15th gives the rookies at the track the spotlight today to show if they can be the next superstar to emerge at the track. World famous track announcer “Dogtrack” Mike Jameson will be calling home winners all day long for you.
Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 4 Grade TC 301 Yards
The drag race with a twist, also known as the super sprint, is wide open for the win here.
I’m liking #3 Yikes Stripes from Rader Racing to get it done here. Is just learning how to race at this distance, coming down from the 545 yard but just missed out for the W last time out. Is sitting in a nice spot between racers she can outbreak, which is the prime factor in determining who will win in this short race.
The grade drop who could pop is #6 HS Jones, who is notorious for winning in this class, but also is an all or nothing racer (either will win or give up). Too off and on for me to play for the win, but I do like in my Quinela play.
Yikes Stripes gets her first career super sprint win in this one.
Picks: 3 - 6 - 7 - 5
Race 9 Grade J 545 Yards
Can you imagine competing against your brothers and sisters for fame? How about if you have 7 brothers and sisters all looking for that at the same time in your workplace?
That’s exactly what #5 Rab’s Bullet is currently doing at Palm Beach. Part of an impressive litter from owner James Zawisa, Bullet debatably could be the best of the bunch. Has won three races already (two schoolings) here at Palm Beach and is setup to get another one. Less than stellar field as most J races are, you have to like Bullet for the W here.
#7 Cedar Maxine has the best rush of this field and should lead but lacks any type of close to hold off Bullet here. Should be on your Quinela/Tri ticket, as she has hit the board in 75% of her races.
Picks: 5 - 7 - 1 - 2
Race 15 Grade A 545 Yards
The race of the day without a doubt.
The Grade A finale features a rematch of the 5/24 race between #2 Submariner from B & B Racing and #7 Olivia Wilde.
Brother of Puppy Stakes Champ Storm Control, Submariner won the first duel by 4 lengths and is looking to be back in top form. Has 11 wins on the season and has more top class experience then most of this field.
Olivia Wilde has been in the top 3 in her last five races and is a must add to your plays. The Rader Racing veteran is showing a quality rush and will be in the mix again today.
Wildcard is #4 IllTakeMyChances. Already has 5 wins in 16 chances, but has struggled to keep up with the early speed the top grade has to offer.
Submariner gets back to back wins and continues to impress at Palm Beach.
Picks: 2 - 7 - 4 - 8
Top Pick Race 15- #2 Submariner
