Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 6/28/2014

June 28th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

Superstar Saturday is back at Palm Beach!  The best rivalry here has season wins champ KB’s Like A Fox and Kennel mate Bae Sang facing each other in the 4th race.  You also have one of the hottest racers on the planet CRT Leyla going in Race 14.  Should be an outstanding card to watch and enjoy all afternoon long.

Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 4 Grade TA 301 Yards

They will go at it one more time this season.

The drag race with a twist we call the super sprint has the two superstars going toe to toe today. #3 KB’s Like A Fox is going for season win #38.  With the wins championship all locked up, the only thing left to do is get even with rival #8 Bae Sang.

They have met three times this season, with Bae Sang taking two of them.  Sang is going for four straight and bested Fox out of this 8 box the first time they met.  One of these Rader Racing stars is going to win this and will be the lowest paying Quinela of the season I predict.

I’m going with Bae Sang here simply for the box setup, but Like A Fox taking this wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Picks 8-3-5-7

Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards

All eyes will be on #5 CRT Leyla from The Champions Racing Team.

Going for her 5th win in June, nobody racing at this distance can matchup with her right now.  Has built a sweet rush out of the box to go along with that dynamic close.  Has also gone under 30 secs in 5 straight.

Biggest threat will come from veteran #8 LeaveHimAlone from Marsella Racing. Has looked a little pedestrian at the end of this season, but does have a positive history out of this 8 box, winning four of his last six.

Wildcard is #6 Daphne Zuniga, who has scorched all of the lower class races but has struggled in the top grade.  Has the ability though to steal this if she can bolt out of the box.

CRT Leyla is too strong for this field and should win going away.

Picks 5-8-4-6

Race 15 Grade B 660 Yards

The finale takes us to the Pat C Rendezvous middle distance course.

I’m surprised #7 Kiowa Kay Fannie is still in this lower class.  Owned by Vince Berland, this has been a top competitor in Grade A all season long, but has gotten nosed out at the line the last two races.  The veteran of 137 races should get it done today.

#4 Precocious Peg from top Kennel Rader Racing is the grade drop that could pop here.  Times have gone up the last four races, which keeps me from putting her in for the win, but hitting the ticket is likely with Peg.

Fannie gets back to the top class where she belongs.

Picks 7-4-8-6

Top Pick Race 14- #5 CRT Leyla

~Congratulations to KB’s Like A Fox for taking the seasons wins championship! Also to Rader Racing for winning their 10th straight kennel championship!
