Greyhound Preview: Palm Beach for 7/8/2014

July 8th, 2014

by Palm Beach Jason

I am ready for the Tuesday racing action to get rolling at Palm Beach. 15 sensational races to watch and play all afternoon long, with a very competitive card on tap.  Many of the superstars at this track have the day off, setting the stage for the up and coming rookies to take on the veteran racers for supremacy, at least just for one day.

Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”

Race 2 Grade B 545 Yards

If you like early blazing speed, this race will be right up your alley.

All of the breakers sit on the outside in this one. #7 Turbo Fire Break from top Kennel Rader Racing is the Grade drop that should pop here.  Has the most class with 15 wins last season and best break of this group, but is coming off a DNF last month that may have roughed up her game a bit.  Dropping down in class should help her get back to the winner’s circle after this one.

Never late to the party is #6 Magic Buster from B & B Racing, who is a lock to be in first or second place going around the curve.  Is way too low on the win percentage to fire on for a W (11%) but should be on your Trifecta/Super plays because he is a constant board hitter.

Turbo Fire Break gets her mojo back and goes back to Grade A where she belongs.

Picks 7-6-8-2

Race 6 Grade B 545 Yards

Probably my favorite race to watch today because of how wide open it is.

#8 Colorado Ed from owner Norm Rader has lost by a nose in 3 straight.  Is 2 for 29 for wins the last two seasons but is consistently one of the best board hitters at Palm Beach.  Will he finally get a win here?  My answer is no.

#2 Mad Holy Schmidt is the A hound dropping down that is set up nicely on the inside.  Has 5 wins already in his young career and just won out of this two box on 6/20 in A Grade.  Is another hound looking to get back into top form and dropping down in class will be exactly what he needs to do that.

Schmidt barely holds off Ed at the wire for the W here.

Picks 2-3-8-7

Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards

The only Grade A race on the card features one of the hottest puppy prospects going at Palm.

#8 Rab’s Comin In from owner James Zawisa has won 50% of the races he’s been in already and just topped one of the best greyhounds here in CRT Leyla on 6/28.  Sitting in the prime 8 box, should have a clear shot at a win in this one. Could be a major player once the Puppy Stakes qualifying starts next month.

Biggest challenge will come from #3 LK’s Brewster, who has blitzed two straight races under 30 seconds and is showing some nice boogie from the box in the past few months.

Rab’s Comin In has the best setup to best this field here.

Picks 8-3-2-5

Top Pick Race 14 - #8 Rab’s Comin In
