Greyhound Preview: Southland for 3/31/2014

On today's card at Southland we will take a look at several races that stand out as good betting opportunities!
Race 4 - This distance race of 703 yards could prove to be the upset of the card if the wide running (4) Penrose Keenan can avoid the trouble he has been having of late. Having a clean break in this grade D distance race would definitely help but he does have closing ability as well. I do like the (5) Gable Casio to be close by as well.

Race 5 - In this grade A race we have the inside running (1) Kelso's Wanda drawing the one box. She has early speed and very capable of holding on for the win. The (2) Mega Reesy will give 100% and cannot be overlook from this spot. The (8) Flying Brick Road is an invader from Derby Lane and could be contending for the win as well.

Race 7 - This is another distance race of 703 yards, grade C, and has two hard runners that should battle for the win. The (2) PJ Poker Chip is the class and being early as well as a double drop in grade should go to the lead and be able to hold on. Close by at the wire should be the (7) Profiteea who likes to race mid to mid-wide. Also liking the inside post position, the (1) Flying Euphrates will be coming late and deserves consideration for the tri and super. The (5) Pink Cadillac is also capable of much early speed and shouldn't be overlooked.

Race 12 - This grade D race is over the 583 yard course and the one to beat here is the (6) Macktheknife, look for him to go early and hold on for the win. I like the (2) KR All Amped Up to be closing fast as she has tons of late speed to make it happen in case of early trouble. In the chase as well should be the (4) Dutch Velda who goes early and the (8) KB's Navy Seal who has had trouble of late.
Picks: 6 - 2 - 4 - 8 Today's Moneymaker play is race 16, an A grade distance race of 660 yards and is the (8) PJ Bet Yourmoney. She may not have the class of some of the other greyhounds in this race but the potential is there for her to pull a huge upset. Thanks for reading and good luck with your wagers.
