Greyhound Preview: Southland for 4/11/2014

April 11th, 2014

by Moneymaker Mike

Let's get the weekend started at Southland with several solid plays and also a couple of very nice longshots who are ready to romp. Good luck to everyone.

Race 4 - This grade D race is over the 703 yard course and posted well is both the (1) Flying Euphrates who loves the rail and the wide running (8) Going West. Both of these greyhounds have been in grade A before and are certainly the class of the race. Showing nice early speed is the mid to wide running (7) C Ville Wiggins but who has come up short lately but should be used in tri and superfecta plays along with the (3) WW'S Luminous who will be closing hard here.

Picks: 1 - 8 - 7 - 3

Race 6 - In this grade AA race over the 583 yard course is a very competitive field and the wide running (8) Mega Novus should lead them across the finish line in a close race. He is going for two straight wins and 3 out of the last 4. The always tough (7) CBJ Butterfinger is more then capable of going paw to paw with any dog and I look for her to be in the chase tonight. I like the (3) HL'S Travis but he has been somewhat inconsistent with three wins and three last place finishes in his last 6 races but I respect his potential. Showing some early speed along with a strong closing style is the (5) AMF Leaded Gas, I wouldn't leave this one out of your play.

Picks: 8 - 7 - 3 - 5

Race 9 - Racing in this grade B distance race over the 660 yard course is the (1)  JK Lee who was caught at the wire last time out after dropping down from grade A. He has a very good rush and loves the inside and should avoid any early trouble. The always tough (5) Mike Eurizone has been giving good efforts lately and I like him to continue doing so. In the chase as well I like the (4) Braska Dillon and the (8) GF Vindicator.

Pick: 1 - 5 - 4 - 8

Race 17 - Here we have a grade A contest over the 703 yard course and I am still sticking with the (6) RCK Go For Jen as I refuse to give up on this hard running greyhound despite her lack of wins lately. She's been giving her all and could clear early here and hold the lead. The (3) KL'S Dakota will also contend for the lead right out of the box and gets a little easier field then several of her previous races. The (4) Mahgrit is coming off a 5 1/2 length win last time out but may be just a tad short in her first A grade outing. Finishing my tri and superfecta plays will be the (8) Express Pass.

Picks: 6 - 3 - 4 - 8

Friday's Moneymaker play is in the 3rd race, a grade C contest over the 583 course and is the (3) Flying Hawk Boy. I like him to go early here and get his 1st win of 2014 after winning 12 times last season.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
