April 19th, 2014

by Moneymaker Mike

This evening's program is highlighted by the 4th round of the 2014 Southland Spring Futurity stakes races and an always exciting 820 yard super marathon race. We will include a couple of those races in our picks for tonight so sit back and enjoy the show. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.

Race 3 - Starting off the picks is a grade M race over the 583 yard course and I am staying with the (6) Time Square who schooled impressively but in his four races since has encountered more than his share of trouble. He likes it wide for the most part and I like him here to avoid being bumped and blocked for a change and get the win. Showing good rush in his schooling races, I will use the (7) CBJ Firecracker to be challenging for the lead around the turn. Not to be overlooked, let's use the (3)PJ I'm A Jerk who tried to go early last time out and the (8) Arkans Bd Heidi to complete the tri and superfecta plays.

Picks: 6 - 7 - 3 - 8

Race 11 - Here is the second of the three Southland Futurity stakes races tonight and is a grade SAA contest over the 583 yard course. The well positioned (8) L's Nipco should be the one to beat here as he runs midtrack and last time out won by 9 lengths. The inside running (2) WW's Dove Call will go early and may have the lead as they round the first turn and is capable of winning as well. One of my favorite greyhounds at Southland is the (1) Dexter Ambigram who ran a huge race last time by running down Flying Titanium in the stretch to get the win, this greyhound has talent galore and should never be overlooked. Finishing my play will be the (6) Arkans Moose.

Picks: 8 - 2 - 1 - 6

Race 13 - Another Southland Futurity stakes race, grade SAA over the 583 yard course, this one features the (7) Flying Titanium who has 16 wins in 23 races and who I believe is probably the favorite to win the 2014 Futurity stakes. In the chase for second place tonight is a toss up between the (2) Western Road who already shows a win from this box in this stakes contest and the (3) Beryl Drumm who though may be out of position since he likes it mid to mid-wide, he does show a win and a third place finish from the inside posts. The (8) Arkans Max will complete my tri and superfecta plays.

Picks: 7 - 2 - 3 - 8

Race 16 - This is a grade AA race over the 583 yard course and the inside running (1) Kiowa Producer should have clear sailing from start to finish as he goes for his sixth straight win. Another rail runner I will use is the (2) WW Sparks Flying who is coming off a nice win herself. Going with the (8) J's Redneck Romeo to perhaps be the surprise of the race along with the mid-track and hard running (5) Alone All Alone.

Picks: 1 - 2 - 8 - 5

The Moneymaker pick of the night is in the 4th race, a grade D contest over the 583 yard course and is the (6) Oshkosh Stevo. He had much trouble last time out but up until then had been running hard. I look for him to get back on the right track here.
