Greyhound Preview: Southland for 4/28/2014
by Moneymaker Mike
Monday's program has a little something for everyone with six distance races and a total of seven grade A races or better and I will focus the majority of the picks on the class races this evening as there are some talented greyhounds ready to show their talents in the higher grades. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 6 - This is grade A race over the 583 yard course and I'm liking the (1) RS Libbys Dream to be the one to catch. He likes the inside and this is the fourth time in his last seven races that he has drawn the one box. He has a second, a third and a fourth in those races and I believe he adds a win here. Also in the chase I am going with the (6) Arkans Jack who has decent early speed and he likes it mid-track, avoiding early trouble will be key for him. Finishing the ticket I will use the good rushing (7) Mega Willy and the hard running (3) GS Fiftyshades.
Picks: 1 - 6 - 7 - 3
Race 7 - Here is a grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and the pick will be the (5) Ribbet who out of 19 races this season has been fourth or better in 18 of them including five wins and seven second place finishes. Great effort and a hard runner make him the one to beat. The (8) CBJ Butterfinger is going for two wins in a row from the eight box and is a definite threat. The betting favorite in his last six races has been the (2) Flying Riot and I like him to be close by at the finish despite having tons of trouble in his last two races. Rounding out my choices here I will go with the (3) Mega Catamaran.
Picks: 5 - 8 - 2 - 3
Race 10 - This is a grade B race over the 583 yard course and the wide running (9) Sakkara Me O My is the pick to click. I also like the (2) Kiowa Abby Monk who ran a huge race last time out winning by 12 lengths from the one box. An interesting choice I'm making here is the Caliente invader (6) Mega Pennie who seems to be liking the Southland track as evidenced by her third place in a schooling race and also a third place in her first official race. She is worth a shot on the ticket along with the (1) Arkuska Dustin.
Picks: 9 - 2 - 6 - 1
Race 17 - Here we have a grade TAA distance race over the 660 yard course and I'm coming right back with the (5) Gusta Of Ruckus who has finished in the quiniela five times in her last six races and who I like to get out fast and hold the lead for the win. Also in the chase will be the hard running (6) AMF Bad Bounce who is always a threat in a distance race. The (4) CBJ Tias Luv will try for the lead and I will use her in case she gets it. The (8) Commodore will get a lot of support as this young pup has steadily been moving up in class and has three distance wins in his last six races.
Picks: 5 - 6 - 4 - 8
Tonight's Moneymaker play is in the 9th race, a B grade contest over the 583 yard course and is the (4) CBJ Irish Cream. He likes it mid-track and in a schooling contest two weeks ago he won from this same four box by 11 1/2 lengths. I look for him to avoid early trouble and give a repeat of his schooling race.
