Greyhound Preview: Southland for 4/30/2014
by Moneymaker Mike
Tonight's program includes a very talented group of greyhounds going at it in a super marathon contest along with races where some very capable rail runners have drawn the one box. Overall the card looks inviting and promising so let's get started. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 5 - Here is a grade B contest over the 583 yard course and the (1) Ace High is the play here. He likes the inside post and out of the one box in six races in his young career he has two wins, three seconds and a third. Both the (2) Flying Hawk Boy and the (3) Kiowa Ricardo have good early speed and will be challenging right out of the box for the lead so they should be used here in case of any early trouble that may happen behind them. I will finish out the tri and superfecta plays with the hard running (6) FF Code Red.
Picks: 1 - 2 - 3 - 6
Race 10 - This race is a grade D race over the 583 yard course and I'm coming right back with the rail running (1) Polish WIlson. He is a young and talented pup who runs hard on the inside and last time out of the one box had a nice second place finish. The (8) Jackman shows some good rush from time to time and may avoid early trouble to be in the chase at the end. The longshot (9) Inkco is from the Caliente track and probably won't be played much but who can run from the outside and gave a nice effort last race by finishing third. The (7) Kiowa Kay Dan will complete my tri and superfecta plays.
Picks: 1 - 8 - 9 - 7
Race 13 - Super marathon race, a grade SAA contest over the 820 yard distance. A very tough and talented field will provide excitement from start to finish with the (2) KL's Pete trying to make it three wins in a row over this very demanding course. It won't be easy for him as the (4) Flying Uzi will be coming off the pace to make a run late here. The (1) L's Morgan also has a ton of late speed but likes it wide and may have trouble getting in position to make a run down the stretch. I do like the (6) Flying Smokey but he has been being a little short of late, will use him to hang on and make the ticket.
Picks: 2 - 4 - 1 - 6
Race 17 - Here is a grade A contest over the 583 yard course and the (8) Volando Dilbert gets the nod here. He is another invader from the Caliente track and who seems to be adjusting well both to the track and the competition since landing here. I will also give a shot at winning to the (2) PJ Timeless who likes the inside and may clear early from here. The (7) Slatex Jamaica has early speed but may have trouble getting to the lead from this post position as he normally shows an inside running style. Worth a play to make the tri and superfecta tickets is the (1) Smart As Ever who won from the one box last time he had it.
Picks: 8 - 2 - 7 - 1
The Moneymaker play this evening is in the 9th race, a grade B contest over the 583 yard course and is the (1) Nitro Stubby, another rail runner who last time in this grade won from the one box, well worth a shot here.
