Greyhound Preview: Southland for 4/7/2014
by Moneymaker Mike
The week at Southland starts off with a card that features some up and coming greyhounds well worth a play along with a couple of playbacks from last week. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
Race 2 - In this D grade race over the 583 yard course I like the class of the (4) Slatex Athens who tried to clear early last time but should be able to here. I am staying with the (2) Doug Wilson as he likes the inside and was a nice playback that I used last time out. The late closing (9) PJ Im A Jammer is a nice young pup who I'm not going to overlook after his strong bid last time despite trouble. Filling out the superfecta plays I will use the (7) KB'S Wild Card as I like her rush and post position.
Pick: 4 - 2 - 9 - 7
Race 9 - Here is a grade A race over the 583 yard course which features the always tough and hard running (3) Ace High. In his 38 races at Southland he has 20 quiniela finishes which includes 11 wins and I look for him to handle this field today. The (8) Kiowa CatAnd Hat has had trouble of late but capable of a big run here. I'm not going to leave out the (1) PG Outback Jack though he likes it wide as he almost cleared a few races ago from the inside post and may avoid early trouble here to have a shot. I also can't forget the (6) WW Sparks Flying here as she came close to winning last time out.
Picks: 3 - 8 - 1 - 6
Race 10 - This is a grade B race over the 583 yard course and I am going with the well posted (7) Oshkosh Nifty who likes it mid-track. There is a possibility of rain at Southland and last time on a muddy track he gave a great effort by running second despite trouble. In the chase as well should be the (9) PJ Super Duper who last time in this grade won from this box. I will include the (2) Dutch Cami and the (1) KL'S Spencer on the ticket as well.
Picks: 7 - 9 - 2 - 1
Race 16 - Here is a grade B race over the 660 yard course and I am still going to stay with the (6) Pescadojourney as she has been running hard lately with several strong finishes in a row. A big surprise in this race I believe will be the (7) KF'S Silver Spur who is certainly no stranger to this distance and who might be overlooked by the betting public as he is 18-1 on the morning line. The always tough (2) KL'S Jaegar and the young pup (5) Profiteea round out my choices here.
Picks: 6 - 7 - 2 - 5
Today's Moneymaker pick is in the grade C 12th race over the 583 yard course and is the (7) Got That Swing. This is her second race in this grade after dropping from B and she likes it mid to mid wide.
Good luck!!!
