Greyhound Preview: Southland for 5/28/2014
by Moneymaker Mike
This evening's card of 18 races is sure to be an exciting one as I believe we are in store for some big surprises and several nice big $$$$$$ payouts. The program has quality greyhounds going paw to paw and I look for class and speed to shine more then usual tonight. Let's get started with a nice play in the first race and hopefully keep it going throughout the card.
Race 1 - Grade D - 583 yards - Let's get started with a winner right off the bat as the key here is the (2) Mega Tranquill. He has tons of early speed and likes it inside, should go to the front and keep the lead. I also like the (8) Pamela Tiffin who is a double dropper and who will be trying for lead as well out of the box. The (6) Kenro Hunter had been running distance races but has since switched back to the shorter course and is capable of putting up a nice effort here. Finishing the ticket I will use the (4) Dunnit All who has fourteen top four finishes in twenty one races.
Picks: 2 - 8 - 6 - 4
Race 7 - Grade A - 583 yards - I'm staying with the (6) Braska Dusty despite troubles in a couple of his last few races. This greyhound gives 110% and I like his effort overall so will stick with him here. Also a big threat to win is the (1) JS Redneck Romeo as he has drawn the inside post and the last two times he drew the one box, he won the race. The (4) Flyin Brick Road has a big rush and has two second place finishes and one third place finish in his last four races so he needs to be included as well. The (7) CBJ Treat likes it more inside but she also has a very good rush and could avoid early trouble to make a race of it.
Picks: 6 - 1 - 4 - 7
Race 11 - Grade AA - 583 yards - The one to beat here is the (8) Atascocita Gray who has talent and speed galore. The last six times this champion greyhound has drawn the eight box, he has won. Odds are on his side to make it seven straight tonight. I do like the (7) Beryl Drumm to give him some competition though as I like this hard runner and the effort he puts forth each time. He is a wide runner and is posted well here. Finishing out the play I will use the rail running (1) Slatex Aspen and the (3) AMF Leaded Gas who is going for his second straight win.
Picks: 8 - 7 - 1 - 3
Race 17 - Grade TA - 703 yards - The key here is the (1) Flying Soldier who runs good from the inside and has a ton of class, he has the edge to get the win tonight. The (6) Bella Padishaw likes it mid to wide and I look for a good race from him in this contest and I look for him to be closing fast down the stretch. Running hard lately has been the (7) Colt Classic and even though he likes the inside if he gets out early he will have a good shot at the upset. I will compete the ticket with the (4) KJ's Hank who is another good closer.
Picks: 1 - 6 - 7 - 4
The Moneymaker play of the evening is in the 4th race, a grade B contest over the 583 yard course and is the (2) KF's Memorymaker. She has been trying hard lately and last time out was running a strong second around the far turn before fading late to fifth. I believe she can hold on better this time and with the nice odds she will probably have, worth a play here.
