Greyhound Preview: Southland for 6/11/2014

June 11th, 2014

by Moneymaker Mike

This evening's Southland card of 18 exciting and entertaining greyhound races at has a little something for everyone. After giving the program a good look I have found several good opportunities for the wagering public to give to check out. I have concentrated the majority of the picks on the lower grade races and though I do like a top grade contest and my choices are listed below. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.

Race 3 - Grade M - 583 yards - I'm going with the (8) PJ All Romance as the key in this one. He is capable of a good rush and with his strong closing ability I look for him to catch the leaders in the stretch for the win. The (7) Windy Rio has drawn a good position for her running style and could be challenging for the lead right out of the box. The (1) Careless Creek has good early speed and will also by vying for the front and I'll use him because of that. He does show a tendency to fade so keep that in mind as well. Finishing out the tri and superfecta plays I will include the (5) Par Dragon as a big longshot to add to the ticket.

Picks: 8 - 7 - 1 - 5

Race 4 - Grade D - 583 yards - I'm liking the (4) Penrose Aldea here because of her impressive schooling lines and her maiden grade win of 7 1/2 lengths. A big rush should get find her in good position early and I think she pulls away for the win. The (6) Oshkosh Alrick likes it mid-track and has seven top four finishes in his ten races and may try to go early here. Also having early speed, the (2) AMF Gaslight will be vying for the front as well and must be included in the play. I will use the (7) I'M Stoked  who is posted well as he likes it mid to wide.

Picks: 4 - 6 - 2 - 7

Race 9 - Grade TC - 703 yards - A tough field in this contest but I'm using the (1) Miss Prissy as the key in this one. She has good early speed and gave a fine effort last race by finishing in second place beaten only by a length and a half. Another threat to win is the (7) T's Sloppy Dog who has two solid second place finishes over this course in his last two races. The (6) Mega Bunny ran fourth in his first contest over this course last time out and figures to be in the chase here. I will use the (3) AMF Wishy Washy to finish out the ticket as she gives a good effort each time out.

Picks: 1 - 7 - 6 - 3

Race 17 - Grade A - 660 yards - My key here is the (1) L's Tatie as she likes the inside starting position and in fact, the last three times she has drawn the one box, she has two wins and a second place finish to show for it. It's hard not to like her to win in this one but if for some reason she has any trouble, the (2) KL's Scott could steal the win as well. He has a very good rush and will need it to get clear early but if so, capable of being in the chase for the win. The (5) Vogo Midnite has three straight second place finishes and the (3) Reality Check It has three straight wins as she has moved up from grade D to A so I'm using both of them for tri and superfecta plays.

Picks: 1 - 2 - 5 - 3

This evening's Moneymaker play is in the 8th race, a grade C contest over the 583 yard course and I'm going with the (3) CBJ Firecracker. I realize he is in with higher class greyhounds here but he wants the inside and this is as close as he has been to the rail in over a month and yet he has four top four finishes in his young career of six races and two of those have been wins. At the odds he will go off at, at least worth a small play in my opinion.
