Ready to chase a $839,335 Pick 6 carryover?

The Rainbow Pick 6 jackpot at Gulfstream Park has been steadily accumulating, and on Saturday the massive carryover is set for a mandatory dispersal among all winning ticketholders. It’s safe to assume the total pool for the $0.20-cent bet will climb into the multimillion-dollar range, setting the stage for big payoffs.

Let’s play the sequence on a ~$50 budget and try to take home a piece of the action:

Race 6: $20,000 claiming (7 1/2 furlongs on turf, 2:40 p.m. ET)

An ultra-competitive heat with at least half a dozen live contenders to consider. Rather than split hairs, we’ll hit the “ALL” button and hope to catch a longshot to start the sequence.

Race 7: Allowance optional claiming (6 furlongs, 3:10 p.m. ET)

#4 Doll Collection (5-2) is in improving form and finished second over this class level on Sept. 12 at Gulfstream. The Ralph Nicks trainee is a logical favorite while dropping blinkers, though Kentucky shipper #7 Gerri B (3-1) also warrants inclusion after finishing third in a trio of quality allowance races at Churchill Downs.

Race 8: Allowance optional claiming (1 1/16 miles on turf, 3:41 p.m. ET)

We’ll single the exciting Chad Brown trainee #1 Greyes Creek (3-1), a talented miler with a sensational turf-of-foot. This son of Pioneerof the Nile could be a genuine star in the making.

Race 9: Via Borghese S. (1 3/16 miles on turf, 4:12 p.m. ET)

The lightly-raced Chad Brown filly #9 Great Island (3-1) is 2-for-2 this year and looms as a logical single. The daughter Scat Daddy combines tactical speed with a strong finishing kick and should appreciate the chance to stretch out over 1 3/16 miles.

Race 10: Mr. Prospector (G3, 7 furlongs, 4:43 p.m. ET)

#7 Diamond Oops (3-1) is 5-for-8 at Gulfstream and won this race last year with a solid 103 Brisnet Speed Rating. The 5-year-old gelding has been in strong form this season and enters off a respectable sixth-place effort in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1).

It’s tempting to single Diamond Oops, but for backup we’ll also include 2019 Gotham (G3) #4 Haikal (6-1), an accomplished stretch-runner making his first start for hot trainer Todd Pletcher.

Race 11: Maiden special weight (1 mile on turf, 5:14 p.m. ET)

The Pletcher trainee #11 Munqad (3-1) is the favorite while transitioning to turf, a logical move since sire War Front is responsible for a solid 15% winners from first-time turf runners. But this is a deep race with plenty of possible challengers, so we’ll spread with half a dozen runners to conclude our ticket.
