Hoosier Park harness racing plays: June 23

Each week, Frank Cotolo employs money-management tactics to build wagers that focus on plump profits.

For the program on June 23 at Hoosier Park, we suggest some horses for selected plays that may fit in any type of wager.

Race 1

Last week we supported #9 Wal Finest in his first 2021 appearance, and though he needed that mile, he did not embarrass himself gaining eight lengths by the finish. We agree with what we wrote last week: “On the Ohio-bred stakes platform he faced far greater competition than these and could be a force in this late in the mile at a big price for being underestimated.”

Rick Plano’s got to be confident about #5 Sistasfaever, coming back to foes she has beaten as this level. He should have her winging early as done with her win on May 21.

Race 4

A fast but challenged start last week weighed heavily on the result of the mile for #6 JJ Da Boss, but the sophomore son of Jailhouse Jesse is filled with the kind of aggression that wins races and has only had four events to use it wisely. The fifth chance may show what he has learned.

A very good exacta will be in the works if you consider #2 Hang On to be the best of the rest here considering he could get a suck-along trip and simply last against an uneven group of foes.

Race 6

#9 Rock Marty has an edge on this group from her manners of finishes. She is a tough competitor from start to finish and has made the most out of 15 starts. Pacing to form, she should be engaged with #4 Skyway Damsel early and which one gets to follow the other with ease may be the reason each finishes first or second.

Race 10

The betting public went soft on #7 Mc Mach last time out and he went to post at 5-1, finishing third after taking a command that would have won him the race at many other tracks. A little more care and this long and merciless stretch will not stop him soon.

Do not count out #4 One Cool Cat from the final strides; he is ready for a 2021 debut that will pay some bills. Even playing a part in an exotic will make a very healthy contribution to tickets.

Race 12

This is a non-jackpot High-5 event. In post-position order, here are the five horses we count upon to cash a ticket in this chaotic exotic.

#4 Jet Ace made a living in 25 races finishing second or third and that consistency should continue in this mile.

#5 TJ’s Indy Pacer lost public support after losing a similar race as a favorite and then taking on tougher bunches. The public will be back on his back to win here.

#8 Ultimaroca could win the whole thing with his in-the-money record this season alone, so he is a must to be in the top five.

#9 I’m The Candyman is now under the supervision of Walter Haynes Jr., who most likely wants to get this well-bred pacer to live up to his inherent talent.

#1 Timeto Communicate disappointed us last time but deserves the same comment we offered last week to be part of the winning quintet: “Joe Putnam’s gelding is a beaten favorite in a strong April and his May 15 qualifier, where he ate up real estate, cannot be ignored as a factor for a reasonable win here. He did not race at two, so he is reflecting all knocks.”
