How to bet Laurel Park's all-stakes Pick 4

One week later than originally planned, Laurel Park will host an action-packed Saturday card featuring six stakes worth a combined $900,000.

Freezing rain prompted the postponement of the stakes slate from Feb. 13, but the delayed card is well worth the wait, although frozen conditions also forced a canceled card Friday.

Of particular interest for fans of multi-race wagers is the all-stakes Pick 4 that kicks off in the fourth race.

Let’s put together a couple tickets for the high-class sequence.

Race 4: John B. Campbell S. (1 1/16 miles, 2:04 p.m. ET)

#7 Bankit (9-5) is the morning-line favorite, but the New York-bred stakes winner has never beaten open company and has just four wins from 26 starts overall. The consistent #3 Cordmaker (3-1) is the second choice, but he hasn’t visited the winner’s circle since 2019 and enters on a nine-race losing skid.

Let’s take a shot against the favorites with #6 Dixie Drawl (9-2) and #7 Galerio (6-1). The former crushed a 1 1/8-mile allowance at Laurel last month by 9 1/4 lengths and earned a 101 Brisnet Speed rating. The latter boasts has seven wins and six second from 16 starts at Laurel and has cracked the exacta in 12 straight races, including a runner-up effort in the one-mile Jennings S. at Laurel. In the Jennings, Galerio finished two lengths clear of Cordmaker.

Race 5: Nellie Morse S. (1 1/16 miles, 2:37 p.m. ET)

It’s going to be tough for anyone to take down #9 Lucky Stride (2-1).

Two starts back, the Michael Trombetta trainee rallied to finish second in the 1 1/16-mile Thirty Eight Go Go S. at Laurel, where she was beaten just 1 1/2 lengths by next-out Allaire DuPont (G3) winner Eres Tu. Lucky Stride then romped by 2 1/4 lengths in the 1 1/16-mile Wayward Lass S. at Tampa Bay Downs.

The only concern is Lucky Stride’s lack of tactical speed, which could lend an advantage to speedy DuPont fourth-place finisher #1 Landing Zone (4-1). Her best Brisnet Speed ratings are competitive, and her connections — jockey Angel Cruz and trainer Claudio Gonzalez — have teamed up to win at a 21% rate over the last two months.

DuPont runner-up #7 Wicked Awesome (9-2) is also worth including.

Race 6: Wide Country S. (seven furlongs, 3:12 p.m. ET)

#5 Street Lute (2-1) is a neck away from being undefeated in seven starts and enters off four consecutive stakes victories at Laurel. The speedy daughter of Street Magic dominated the six-furlong Extra Heat S. by five lengths and is undefeated in two starts sprinting seven furlongs, so she looms as an obvious win contender for high-percentage trainer John Robb.

But don’t sleep on the chances of #3 Fraudulent Charge (6-1), who rallied to finish second by a nose against Street Lute in the seven-furlong Gin Talking S. at Laurel. With just two starts under her belt, Fraudulent Charge still has upside, and there should be plenty of pace to enhance her late rally.

Race 7: Barbara Fritchie S. (G3, seven furlongs, 3:46 p.m. ET)

We’ll end the sequence with a single.

#8 Hello Beautiful (8-5) is undefeated in seven starts at Laurel, including an easy, three-length score in the seven-furlong Safely Kept S. in the fall.

The speedy four-year-old prepped for the Barbara Fritchie with a frontrunning win in the Jan. 16 What a Summer S. over this track, and trainer Brittany Russell (a 36% winner at Laurel).
