How to bet Mahoning Valley's $123,143 Buckeye Pick 6 carryover

March 8th, 2021

Are you planning to bet Tuesday’s $123,143 Buckeye Pick 6 jackpot carryover at Mahoning Valley? It’s a sequence well worth pursuing.

Nothing especially surprising unfolded during Monday’s Pick 6—three favorites reached the winner’s circle, and every victorious runner started at less than 5-1. A $2 win parlay across the six winners would have returned just $653.50, yet the 20-cent Pick 6 generated a lofty $1,573.18 payday.

We didn’t miss a winning ticket by much, assembling five of the six winners on a $48 play. Naturally, we’ll dive right back into the thick of things on Tuesday, putting together another ticket on a $43.20 budget. Acknowledging the trends from recent racing days at Mahoning Valley, we’ll favor short-priced runners and speed horses.

Race 3

#2 Ragtime Dolly (7-2) has tactical speed and should be tough to catch while stretching out over one mile in a seemingly paceless race. But #6 Quick Talker (3-1) is shipping in from Aqueduct and looms as a logical alternative in her first start for hot trainer Timothy Hamm.

Race 4

#2 Ronni’s Day (3-1) and #7 Highly Explosive (5-2) both have speed, and both have run well sprinting at Mahoning Valley. They’ll be tough to catch, though the unraced #3 Tivis (7-2) also warrants inclusion, considering trainer Robert Gorham has gone 5-for-13 (38%) with first-time starters at Mahoning since 2019.

Race 5

#7 Father Dennis (3-1) rallied to finish second by a neck over this class level on Feb. 22, an effort flattered when third-place finisher Onlyattheshoe returned to win his next start. With Brisnet Speed ratings of 82 and 84 from his last two starts, Father Dennis owns the best recent figures in the field and looks tough to deny. The speedy #3 Memphisinmay (7-2) might be the only challenger up to springing a surprise.

Race 6

#7 Most Sandisfactory (3-1) ran well to finish second over this track, distance, and class level on Feb. 22. Having posted Brisnet Speed ratings of 82 or higher in six of his last seven starts, Most Sandisfactory is strictly the one to beat, though the Tampa Bay Downs shipper #4 Ananroad (2-1) also warrants inclusion.

Race 7

#7 Mo Breeze (5-2) is a pure front-runner entering off back-to-back wins over this track and distance, but she’s also stepping up against slightly tougher company. #6 Mountain Melodies (2-1) has run marginally faster on the Brisnet Speed rating scale and enters off a runner-up effort over this class level for hot trainer Eric Reed. Throw in the capable stretch runner #3 The New Miami (4-1) and we should have the race covered.

Race 8

#8 Denny M (8-5) has a ton of tactical speed and enters off a runner-up effort over this track, distance, and class level on Feb. 16. The 74 Brisnet Speed rating he received is the highest last-out figure in Tuesday’s field, stamping Denny M as the runner to catch for high-percentage trainer Larry Smith. Fellow speedsters #3 Stone Cold Cat (2-1) and #6 Ridge West (4-1) loom as the main opposition.

The Ticket

Race 3, 20-cent Buckeye Pick 6: 2,6 with 2,3,7 with 3,7 with 4,7 with 3,6,7 with 3,6,8 ($43.20)

Good luck!
