How to bet Saturday's Late Pick 4 at Oaklawn

(c) Vance Hanson
A trio of stakes events highlights an excellent opening Saturday card at Oaklawn Park. Two of the featured races will help comprise the late Pick 4, and I believe that the sequence is surely worth a play with competitive fields in each leg.
Race 6 -- Maiden Special Weight
Huge cast with a lot of potential will go postward in the 6-furlong dash for sophomores, and I feel inclined to spread in the first leg. The youngsters that I will include are #2 Kickin' Kirby (15-1), #3 Dust Devil (5-1), #5 Kowalski (6-1), #7 Approved (4-1), #8 Warrior's Map (20-1), #11 Feathered Indian (9-2), and #12 Twilight Fantasy (8-1). In addition, if either or both of the also-eligibles get into the race, they will be included, as well. #13 Seattle Sea Devil (4-1) and #14 Liam's Pride (9-2) are both on the waiting list and have merit.
Race 7 -- Pippin S.
Fillies and mares will travel two turns in the stakes affair. California import #2 Lady Suebee (6-1) has speed and draws near the rail for Sadler. First Defence mare is a dangerous wire-to-wire candidate at a nice number.
Brad Cox's #4 Irish Mischief (4-1) has won or placed in three of her four local endeavors, and the Into Mischief filly was a dominant allowance vixen in her 2019 finale. #9 Gold Standard (7-2), also for Brad Cox, has never run a bad race in advance of her 2020 bow. $1.2 million daughter of Medaglia d'Oro looms large with her best performance.
Grade 1-placed stakes winner #5 Special Relativity (8-1) gets back on the dirt following a trio of stakes placings on the Tapeta at Woodbine. Daughter of Cowboy Cal was a smart allowance vixen on this oval in March for Diodoro, and she has upset potential off the bench.
Race 8 -- Fifth Season S.
The boys will run a mile in this black-type test, and I will single #6 Pioneer Spirit (5-2). Son of Malibu Moon was claimed for a massive $150,000 two back at Churchill Downs and rewarded his connections with a tally in the Tenacious S. at Fair Grounds most recently. Bay ran three huge races here in 2019, and I love his post draw with his main foes inside of him.
Race 9 -- Allowance
#1 Emboldened (9-5) is the class of the field and will be tough with a top showing in her debut for Brad Cox. Grade-1 placed stakes heroine is training well in preparation of her 5-year-old bow, but the mare has been off since May and she also draws inside of a big field, so I will add another for protection.
#12 What A Fox (8-1) has shown solid improvement since adding blinkers four races back. Diodoro charge didn't fire last time out, but she had posted a trio of wins in succession prior to that, and she also broke her maiden at Oaklawn Park.
I have confidence in closing the sequence with the bookends in the finale.
Suggested Wager

Good Luck!
