How to bet the Ladies Stakes

January 15th, 2026

An accomplished field of eight fillies and mares will go postward in Saturday’s $135,000 Ladies S. at Aqueduct. The 1 1/8-mle affair on the main surface is led by the surging #1 Weigh the Risks (3-5), who has won five of her last six assignments since moving back to the dirt. Trained by Chad Brown, the five-year-old sports a fine 5-4-1-0 on this strip and comes in off a powerful score in the Go For Wand S. locally at the one-mile distance.

Grade-1 placed stakes heroine #3 Ourdaydreaminggirl (8-1) has elevated her game since moving to the route ranks and rates as a viable exotics player in the test for conditioner Louis Linder. By Instagrand, the four-year-old was last seen checking in a nice third behind a really good one in the Comely (G3) on the course and could go better in her third run off the short layoff. The chestnut has registered some hefty Brisnet Late Pace ratings in three of her last four outings, and if the filly can stay in touch to some level early on, then she will be in the mix for a placing late at a fair price. Angel Rodriguez will take the reins.

Grade 2 starlet #7 Quietside (9-2) was runner-up in the Comely in her second appearance since May and has room to improve on Saturday. Trained by John Ortiz, the Malibu Moon filly might not be an ideal nine-furlong lass, but I liked her prep for this affair, and she also scorched a bullet half-mile in advance of the contest, as well. Shortleaf Stable homebred will be forwardly placed with first run on the favorite, turning for home, with Jose Lezcano picking up the ride.

Grade 3 victress #4 Scalable (6-1) and the Grade-2 placed #6 Just Katherine (10-1), also has appeal to me for the lower rungs of the exotics
