Miss Sky Warrior wires Demoiselle

The Kelly Breen trainee established splits of :23.65, :48.82, 1:14.72 and 1:40.18 on the front end with jockey Paco Lopez aboard. Miss Sky Warrior held a two-length advantage in the stretch, but 6-5 favorite Jamyson 'n Ginger made her way forward from midpack and cut into that margin.
Jamyson 'n Ginger came wide around the bend, though, drifted out to the center of the track and ran out of room as Miss Sky Warrior crossed under the wire in a final time of 1:53.34 for nine furlongs over the fast main track.
Miss Sky Warrior paid $13.20 as the 5-1 third choice in the nine-filly field. Jamyson 'n Ginger had 6 3/4 lengths to spare on Bonita Bianca in third, while 7-2 second favorite Libby’s Tail filled out the superfecta another 5 1/2 lengths behind. Completing the order under the wire were Majestic Bonnie, Elandless, Romantic Music, Spirituality and Ladies Day.
Campaignd by Arlene’s Sun Star Stable, Miss Sky Warrior is now 4-3-0-0, $348,750, in her career. The dark bay daughter of First Samurai ran fourth in her debut at Belmont Park on September 11, then returned in mid-Ocotober at Parx Racing to break her maiden by seven lengths.
Both of those starts came at six furlongs and Miss Sky Warrior stretched out to a mile most recently to take her stakes bow in the Tempted Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct on November 5.
Bred in Kentucky by Arlene London, Miss Sky Warrior is the first registered stakes winner out of the Conquistador Cielo mare Sky Minister.

I made the lead briefly going into the first turn and heading into the second quarter, we were going a bit slow, but I thought she was in a perfect position. I just waited. After this, we're going to give her some R&R and hope to have her back at Gulfstream Park in February. She's a game filly. If I have a thought in the back of my head of trying to get her to the Kentucky Oaks (G1), I'll start mapping it out. It would be great to go with a horse that's legit."

"They all ran good. We can't complain. They ran their races. You could say that Jamyson 'n Ginger maybe was a little tired from her last race and shipping across the country and back. She had two races back-to-back while shipping back and forth. But she still ran good. We took a chance with her today and she didn't embarrass herself. She ran a good second. We have to give all of the credit to the winner; she put everybody else away."
